Join it and serve your nation. Nation in this case is US, where you live and study. US is your nation because this is where you're earning your bread and butter. Don't let emotional fools misguide you. And seriously don't listen to bafoons here who're saying you'll be killing innocent Muslims. Pak Army main to direct farishtay bhejay hue hain na Allah ne?

There was a Pakistan-origin US Army doctor who set up a medical camp in the aftermath of the 2005 Earthquake.

I think it would be important to weigh your options. Is US citizenship really that prized that you wouldn't mind fulfilling orders where you might end up killing scores of innocents? I'm sure there are other sides to the story as well but just putting one perspective out there.
Would you rather that he fulfill orders of Pak Army instead, where he again might end up killing scores of innocents?

If it comes to choosing between two evils, I'd rather he goes towards the lesser one. There's a higher probability of murdering innocents whilst being part of the U.S Army. Medical Corps is an altogether different matter though but I doubt the OP is interested in that.

Personally, I don't see any attraction in getting US citizenship. Or that of any other country for that matter.

Go ahead brother joining the marines is a job if you feel you can do it go ahead + ask your parents if they are good so be it

Hatred comes from the heart not the uniform your wearing

One of my fathers friend is an x Marine and one of his son is currently serving with the marines the younger son will most probable follow in his fathers and brothers steps if you want any assistance i can ask them from your behalf

Forget the morality you can get KILLED in army and I don't think it's worth it ust to support your education. You can do some other job if you have financial issue. Furthermore you might have to kill someone and innocent or not I don't think it's right to kill someone just to complete your education. It's easy to say that you were just following orders but Allah wouldn't have given us brains if He wanted us to obey blindly. My parents wanted me to join Pakistan army but I didn't join because I didn't like the idea of killing someone without knowing who he is or what he has done. To the guys saying that pak army and Taliban are not angels I agree with you but two wrongs don't make a right.

By observing a lot of opinions including friends, family and you guys, I have decided that I will be getting enlisted. I do have a few moral confusions but I don't believe your morals are do a lot with the society which you were raised in. And I don't think society's worth making your life decision. Hopefully I will be signing and swearing oath within a week. May Allah helps me serve under his blessings.

Edit: Just to make it clear that US Citizenship is not what I am joining the service for. I want to continue my education for free!

Thank You all for replying.

Indeed. Though, it's not an either/or issue here, is there? He can stay away from militaries altogether and keep his hands clean.

Personally, I don't see any attraction in military life.

Because I am a full time student at Minnesota State university and supporting myself for last 20 months and ITS HARD. Also, I think it Can be a great experience. It has to be a atleast 4 year active duty service and chances of getting deployed in "Middle East" are high. My school will be paid by ARMY (I can only take online classes though) and I sweet deal is that I will get my citizenship without even getting a green card. In next 3-5 months I will have a American Citizenship and I can visit my family in Canada and UK with on arrival Visa. Its a steady job and pays kind of decent considering the health/housing benefits.
There r two sides of coin
At the moment u r just one side
Personally I won't feel bad for u until u don't come across in Afghanistan n opposite to salala post with ur guns pointing at Pakistan!
U r doing it to get free education n citizenship but are you sure u will survive middle east future ISIS conflict n intervention of US ground troops? Honestly there is basically nothing wrong in joining other armies or services of other countries. My one relative is actually in NYPD so we all will feel proud for u until u know when to leave, only ur morality can determine what u can do n what u can't! That includes not justifying to urself the Muslim killings they ask you to commit. You need not to justify to anyone else but ur own whatever they ask you to do against Muslims in general n Pakistan in particular. Otherwise as some friend said it's just like having dual nationalities. But Ru sure with free education u will not get a free bullet in ur butt while ur time in middle east? How u will manage studies n ur hectic duty as u will be Sepoy in that army whereas u can be an officer in Pakistan army :)
U can get free engineering degree whole being in Pakistan army. U can even get a PhD for free if ur good at studies. Anyway getting free education :) doesn't sound appealing to me.

Just a headsup, you would be flagged by our agencies, this means you would be monitored 24/7 when every you are in Pakistan, A brother of my friend works for some USA agency and he is not allowed to enter pakistan,Poor lad had to arrange his marriage ceremony in dubai instead of Pakistan.

The problem is not if its allowed, its the question that it is moral. Holding alligence to two different entities is not moral. No matter how you look at it. Even if you go and enroll in a friendly nation army like say turkey or saudi, where chances or any conflict with pakistan are almost impossible, it will still not be moral if you keep insisting on being a pakistani citizen. However before ppl start either patting my back or crushing it, in todays world any affiliation to a group based on basic geographic boundries is only superficial. The bigger question is that if you deploy in the ME then you will be asked to do things that go against your religion. What will you do then.

Do I have the right to fully express myself using the right of free speech or do I have to make sure I don't offend any patriots online? :p

I personally think a soldier that does not THINK before acting on his general's orders is nothing but a sell sword, a one trick pony.

Soldiers are immoral c*nts who are only serving the bureaucrats interests. I am talking generally.. about war and soldiers. Not talking about our soldiers to be specific.
