I’ve come across this annoying issue with a windows XP system.

Every time I restart that system the icons on the desktop are arranged alphabetically. It’s getting really annoying to manage files and folders.

I’ve tried multiple solutions but so far nothing has worked.

There is nothing wrong with the operating system and NO reinstalling Window is not an option right now.

Windows XP was installed on this system on a new drive only weeks ago and this problem just started a few days back.

Please advise.

Thank You

Wrong Section. It belongs to Software Den.
-----------------------------------------

Windows XP have the tendency of loosing the currently saved information on a power failure.

About Desktop Icons, Right Click on Desktop, Sort > Check only "Align Icons by Grid".
Do not check "Auto Arrange Icons".
Refresh desktop and restart computer.

After a restart when you get back to your desktop, start arranging icons as you like. When you are done, refresh deskop and see if it re-arranges your icons. It should NOT (it doesn't actually). After that, restart computer.

This is not a 'problem'. This is not even related to WinXP OS.

And What "multiple Solutions" have you used?

Same stuff man. Rearrange, restart, align to grid. Basically multiple combinations of sorts to get this issue done with.

Even tried taking the icons off desktop and blah blah.

Power failure? Highly unlikely. Company PC's have absolutely uninterrupted power supply. This problem started while someone was working on the system.

I'll give this try.

Thank you.
