Best University for Computer Science in Karachi?

Hi, I'm currently in college doing my Intermediates in "general science" faculty. I want to study Computer Science and my top priority is FAST. However I'm having a bit of a trouble with the family because it's too far from my house and my family is paranoid. What would be your top choice for doing Computer Science in Karachi besides FAST, assuming if it is your top choice. How is Karachi University's Computer Science department? Are there any political issues?

Another thing I wanted to ask about FAST admission test. Rumors are going on that government is going to delay second-year examinations this year due to the elections taking place May, which is the same month for second-year examinations. Be that as it may, I might not get enough time to prepare for the test after the exams, so I want to know how can I prepare on my own? I mean, which books should I use besides my intermediate textbooks.

see kid, fast is the best uni for the cs but as ur family has issues then dont go the for the fast bcz they have high fees. choose & look for the another uni for cs.. may be local sector...sat books are required for the test !!!!

KU is good to , if ur not in political stuff and no involvement, then political parties won't be a problem to you

As far as I know, there are no financial problems that my family hasn't made me aware of. Thanks for the suggestion about SAT books, I will definitely look into them.

I have been thinking about the same thing to pick a good uni, The only thing is being a problem is Admission test.
I don't know about the FAST uni not on my first choice of the university but i will try to get into NED which is pretty near to my house.

About the test in FAST i heard that they will give you all the hard/easy question that you got from 9th to 12th. You got no choice unless you are ready to become a books bug.

I got 76% in first-year and I'm hoping about 80% in second-year, if Allah wills. NED is really, really close to my home. It's so close that I could walk there. However, I have heard bad things about NED's CS department; mainly due to the fact that NED is known as an engineering university, so their CS department isn't exactly on par with other departments.

I'm thinking of joining Anees Hussian tuition centre, they offer test preparation for CS in FAST. This exam delay rumor has really put me at an edge. If they are delayed, then I wouldn't get time to prepare, so I have to prepare beforehand.

@OP: Karachi University is THE BEST place to do CS course overall, altho NED beats it if you dont count the extremely small chance you have of getting in unless you got absolutely academic records etc... do have backups, look into private Unis as well as SZABIST, Sir Syed etc also offer excellent CS programs last time i checked.

At the end of the day, no matter where you get in, remember Computer Sciences is one field where your own initiative and savvy counts more than anything else. take it from someone who knows. You can get in any other discipline and get away with it even if you have half a brain, the issue is getting in the right place like Dow for MBBS, IBA for BBA etc etc... but CS is one field where at the end of the day it dont matter if you're a KU graduate or from some two bit Uni,,, if you've done the right projects, shown yourself to be someone who can be ACTUALLY creative in ths field then you'll get hired no problem. Think about that.

Wait what thing did you heard man, Do they have ghost or something like that or some political shits. You really made me curious to know i have known many guys trying so hard just to get into the university i don't mean from entry gate, Well you get the point.

I might be biased, I don't know anything at this point. I'm confused. I have been pushing through my intermediates with FAST in mind, so I never thought about NED or KU, or any other university, really. I don't think I will get admission in NED, they demand academic performance and I'm a couple percentages short.

If NED is near to you, then SSUET would be too. Keep your priority in FAST, NED, SSUET. KU's programme is inferior to them. ( Talking about only CS program ).

And percentage isn't a problem for FAST. My 64% friend got IN. Neither their test is that hard.

Well I am not trying to change your mind, Just asking you guys a opinion for myself. It really good that you're confident about your future.
Looks like you've planned for FAST from many years i guess. For the test i suggest you look into your old books, Also take classes in Anees Hussian if you feel like you should. Try everything possible to achieve your goal INSAH-ALLAH you will succeed.

Even if you fall ( which i hope you won't ) you should give a thoughts about choosing another University as a back-up plan.

You are right, it is. I have been thinking along the lines of universities that you mentioned. I will probably give tests for at least 2 of them if not all 3 and will see what's in the box for me. It will be probably be FAST though.

As per my suggestion go for IBA. They have very good R & D departments.specially robotics and of course in AI. FAST isn't better than IBA in any way.
