Thanks for replying bro. I have been on Trip adviser, but I wanted to get a suggestion from someone from Pakistan who have been there. I mostly do DIY and rarely involve an agent.

Airbnb, tripadvisor etc are DIY.

I've used Airbnb and Bookings.com and my experience with both has been superb. I'll recommend bookings.com over airbnb though. Why do you want to find someone from Pakistan when you can read reviews from everyone all over the globe, including Pakistanis? You be the judge for what works for you. Something I find great might be just ok for you. It depends person to person.

Give it a shot! It's an excellent way to find places to stay according to your budget and need. Read the reviews and see the pictures. Best part is the map pin feature where you can see nearby places rates by simply scrolling over the pins dropped in the neighborhood on the map.

Bro ,I had a 15hr stay in Colombo so I opted for transit and my agent booked a hotel for me . It was at the beach side . It was a year ago and I dont remember the name of the place . There were a lot of churches and the name of the place started with "N"

I traveled to Srilanka back in 2013 while I was on a transit to Indonesia. It is a general rule of airlines to provide accommodation and food If your transit stay exceeds 8 hours. So I was provided stay by Srilankan Airlines at Nigumbo, you might have same place [MENTION=23281]shahzadfootball[/MENTION]
I had 15 hours stay too. Did the travel agent charge you for that stay

It's a small country. You can travel around from a base in the capital Colombo quite easily. Food is pretty cheap, you can have a decent meal for something less than $5. The restaurants locals usually dine at are cheaper still, but beware of hygiene standards at cheaper places (Much better than the rest of the South Asia though).

Good place to stay in colombo is by the beach side. Try to see any good hotel on booking.com and see all the available hotels in that area.

Keeping in mind, sri lankans understand urdu , don't pass on any taunts etc..

Airbnb has some ppl listing their personal properties. As a tourist you need to be as close to transportation area.

The ones near easy access like metro/bus should be expensive but as in a trip it will be good to obtain transportation for places you keen to visit.
