Battlefield 3 will expand with three downloadable add-ons this year for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, starting with June's Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, EA announced at GDC this week. Each expansions carries its own theme, with Close Quarters focusing on "tight infantry gameplay," the addition of four new maps and 10 new weapons, and the Frostbite 2 engine's "HD destruction."
Close Quarters hits in June, with Battlefield 3 expanding with new maps and new vehicles throughout the year, DICE said.

While Close Quarters deals in small spaces and vertical gameplay, the others will explore bigger maps and new drivable weapons of war. Battlefield 3: Armored Kill hits in the fall, featuring Battlefield's biggest map ever. Battlefield 3: End Game arrives in the winter, but we don't know what's in that pack.

Here's the official description from EA.

  • Battlefield 3: Close Quarters – In Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, players are dropped into a frantic, infantry-only theatre of war. Frostbite 2 high definition destruction makes the environment come alive as everything from furniture to plaster gets shot to pieces. Players will feel the intensity of the world exploding around them as rubble and broken pieces pile up on the floor, while tight level design and vertical gameplay create a highly competitive environment. Battlefield 3: Close Quarters also introduces new weapons, assignments and unique dog tags to bring back to the base game.

  • Battlefield 3: Armored Kill – Following the tight infantry gameplay of Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, DICE will release Battlefield 3: Armored Kill that ups the ante for vehicular mayhem as only Battlefield can do. Featuring new driveable tanks, ATVs, mobile artillery and more, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill also delivers huge battlefields for an all-out vehicle assault, including the biggest map in Battlefield history.
  • Battlefield 3: End Game – The fourth expansion pack will ship in the winter but details remain tightly guarded.

Vertical Gameplay

This is a special ART of gameplay, in which 3 soilders are tied together and they dive into the battlefied while bungee jumping from AIR. On landing ground, they must untie themselves before joining the fight.

NO SHIT.

I've heard a lot of people on the internet complain how its catering to those who prefer call of duty and saying that battlefield has sold out. What I don't get is this is just additional content. It won't hurt those who want to play wide open maps. I personally can't wait for this, looks frantic and insane. Good for short bursts of fun. Bring it on battlefield.

Welp, done with Hellblade 2. Thoroughly disappointed. Such a nothing burger after the unique experience of the first game.

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

  • L LegacyGamerGuy:
Consoles were my main platform ever since Atari 2500. But now I think it's not worth it as PC especially with DLSS deliver far smoother performance. AW2 on console didn't even had ray tracing and ran below 30fps. Similar issues plagues DD2 on consoled.

It is indeed the worst generation by far.

Both PS and Xbox have been a flop this gen as they can barely maintain 30 fps in a lot of AAA games th.

As per WCCF Tech review, Xbox Series X doesn't even maintain a consistent FPS and sometimes drops into the mid-20fps range. That's unacceptable, tbh.

Gradually transitioning from console gaming to PC as the games are not worth it. 6 hours of Hellblade 2 is just not worth the $50 price tag.
Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

Still, I don't like either Sony or Microsoft as they are focusing more on corporate greed than delighting customers. PC gaming is best of gaming and worth every penny.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.
