[h=1]Rumor Patrol: ‘Batman V Superman’ Trailer Attached to ‘Avengers 2′; Screenings Soon?[/h]

The idea of seeing both of DC Comics’ biggest heroes share the screen has been enough to keep Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in the minds of fans with little marketing besides. Luckily, after several rumors have promised the film’s first trailer to no avail, the latest claims fans won’t be waiting much longer.

According to new reports, the Dawn of Justice trailer will be teased by director Zack Snyder in the coming days, with select theaters holding special screenings the following week (as was done with Star Wars: The Force Awakens). Not only that, but the trailer will hit wide release in front of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

First, the rumored plan, courtesy of Latino-Review‘s El Mayimbe – and confirmed by Collider. According to their sources, Zack Snyder will tweet the first seconds of the trailer at 9am on Thursday, April 16; after which point fans will be directed to sign up for special theater viewings on Monday, April 20.

The plan isn’t entirely groundbreaking, although the fact that Warner Bros. has managed to keep the plan quiet to this point is impressive. While it’s hard to know how much footage (or voice over) can be teased in just five seconds, it’s expected that the theater release will be followed soon after by an online version (whether studio-approved, or not). But its second appearance in theaters will be targeted squarely at the comic book crowd.

Apparently, the two comic juggernauts have brokered a mutually beneficial peace, with the Dawn of Justice trailer set to be shown in theaters ahead of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Considering the projected size of Ultron‘s opening weekend audience, that means the largest exposure for Batman V Superman humanly possibly, if this turns out to be the case. Marvel, DC – fans of either now have a major reason to head to the movies when Marvel’s Avengers next head into action.

The collaboration between the two studios may seem strange for fans – particularly those who feel the executives themselves are as clearly divided as some online fan communities. But as we’ve said before, the Marvel/DC competition means good things for all involved. This arrangement is certainly more surprising than Warner Bros. using the trailer hype to bring audiences to Mad Max: Fury Road, but if true, could help put the Marvel/DC rivalry in a more positive light – not unwarranted, given some of the more… passionate fan debates seen online.

We’ll keep you updated as confirmation or an official announcement arrives, but let us know what you think about the plan – and whether you’ll be fighting to see the trailer when it’s released to select theaters next week.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters on March 25th, 2016; Suicide Squad on August 5th, 2016; Wonder Woman - June 23rd, 2017; Justice League - November 17th, 2017; The Flash - March 23rd, 2018; Aquaman - July 27th, 2018; Shazam - April 5th, 2019; Justice League 2 - June 14th, 2019; Cyborg - April 3rd, 2020; Green Lantern - June 19th, 2020.

[h=1]‘Batman V Superman’ Trailer Hits IMAX Monday; Snyder Tease Incoming [Updated][/h]

[UPDATE: You can now watch the BvS teaser and register for tickets HERE.]
Although Marvel Studios has established its shared cinematic universe in theaters, on the small screen and now on online streaming, Warner Bros. and DC Comics have so far only released Man of Steel. Of course, the DC Comics universe has plenty of films planned out through 2020, plus a slew of television series existing in a multiverse. However, the cinematic universe will truly kick off with the release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice next year.
With little more than a year until release, there have been many reports as to when the first trailer for Zack Snyder’s universe-launching feature will drop. Now, it seems Warner Bros. is following the route of Disney/Lucasfilm and will be debuting the first full-length trailer for Batman V Superman in theaters.

Variety reports the trailer will premiere in IMAX theaters Monday, April 20th. The information comes from the Celebration Cinema Theater, which revealed they will be hosting a “Batman vs Superman IMAX Trailer Event” on that date with a runtime of 15 minutes. The full list of IMAX theaters where fans will be able to watch the trailer has yet to be released.
According to previous reports, the first trailer will debut with the release of Mad Max: Fury Road on May 15th. More recently, it was rumored Snyder would tweet the first five seconds of the trailer on the morning of April 16th (tomorrow). Then fans would be able to watch the full-length trailer - which will run two minutes and six seconds – in select theaters. The trailer would, presumably, be released online and hit wide theater release with Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The new report seems to confirm the previous rumor about Warner Bros. and Snyder’s plan to release the Batman V Superman trailer, though the runtime of the IMAX event doesn’t reflect the length of the trailer. It’s extremely doubtful Warner Bros. would release 15 minutes worth of footage from Batman V Superman, so the runtime may be a placeholder that Celebration Cinema Theater posted for the event.
That being said, fans who make the trip to the IMAX theaters may be treated to something extra along with the full-length trailer. Whether that may be some exclusive footage (perhaps a few extra seconds worth), a message from Snyder, or a behind-the-scenes look at the film remains to be seen.
However, it’s just as likely that the 15-minute runtime is a placeholder and doesn’t offer much insight into the event itself. We’ll likely know more about the official premiere of the trailer soon.

BTW I am very familiar to DC Comics but haven't paid attention to Frank millers Batman. Apart from that. Trailer was awful IMO. To many camera cuts. No interesting footage until the very end.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
