Alienware 17 Laptop--- 4k Display Edition!

Hey PG studs....hows it going? So this is a follow-up thread from my Alienware 15 unboxing.
I was not satisfied with the 1080p display on Alienware 15. It had a yellow tint issue and no matter how much I calibrated the color...it wasn't precise.

So, I've exchanged it. Behold! It is glorious

Alienware 17, Revision 3. 2015 Edition.

Specs:

Display: 17.3in @4k resolution.

Processor: Intel Core i7, 6700HQ---Skylake

GPU: Nvidia GTX 970m

Ram: 16gb DDR4 @2133mghz

Hard-Drive: 1TB HDD + 120 gb SSD (I'll have to upgrade this) + 1TB External

Windows 10 Home 64bit---Working PERFECTLY.

thats a alienware m18 and a m17 which i think has the graphics amp option as well ...u exchanged the laptop with what ....
is this a brand new laptop ..how much where did u get it from

and is that m18 urs what specs

I exchanged my Alienware 15 for an Alienware 17 with 4k display. Yes its brand new. I don't think this is "m17"....i think the "m" series are the older models.

Specs of my laptops are written above. I upgraded the ram from 8gb to 16gb. link here:

Got it here from States. The 2 laptops you're talking about from the pic is actually my Alienware 15 and 17

how was the scaling on your m15r2 and how is it on the m17? and how about the cooling on both, do u notice the random loud spinning of fans inside laptop. or is it only under load.

Hey. So the scaling is surprising a lot better on the 4k, 17in version. For some reason, a lot of programs look like crap on the 15.6in version, including Chrome.

Cooling, again is better on the 17in version....accounting for its wider body.

I did experience random revving up of fans on both laptops. I did some research and found out it was the program Alienware Respawn that was causing it. After removing it, the fans never revved up again.

Thanks for the info. Did u compare the igzo with ips ? Is it stunning or just ok.

Igzo is a sight to behold. Its probably the best display I've seen on any laptop. Bright, sharp and accurate colors.
The IPS 1080p on 15.6in was a disaster. It has a horrible yellow tint to it. Had to spend a long time calibrating the color...even then...it was subpar.

I have imported this 15.6 r2 uhd with igzo display. And now i am not sure if i want the 17 inch one.

it shines plenty for UHD movies and 4k Youtube......its overkill for laptop gaming though. Still on the list of the best displays....right next to retina macbooks.
