The SAV001-H vaccine has already been tested on monkeys and rats with overwhelming success and no side effects.
The vaccine has been developed for the subtype B of HIV, the strain common in Europe, Australia and the Americas, and will not work on the African and Asian subtypes but might later be "modifiable".
Its dangerous in that it uses Actual Real HIV... thats deactivated. But the HIV is still alive and their is a very small risk of it "adapting" back into pathological (Evil :looking: ) form.
The fact that FDA gave them full clearance for 3 Complete Phases of Human Clinical Trials.... is HUGE.
That means theirs ALOT of confidence behind this.
BTW, Canada was also the country where Penicillin and Recombinant Insulin was invented (prior to that animal insulin was used in diabetics)
Its a race to make $$$$$$$ from 1st one to patent a working cure....
but Duke researchers still in earliest testing phases of their vaccine.
SOURCES FOR CANADIAN VACCINE... feel free to google up some more.

Their key competitors are Duke University partnered with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant fund (37.2 million USD)....Until now, other experimental vaccines either used subunits of the virus or relied on genetically modified non-HIV viruses to carry an HIV-like genetic sequence.
“The thinking had been that it can be dangerous to use HIV itself, even if it’s inactivated. Because if you don’t inactivate all of it, you’ve got a problem,” Alan Bernstein, former executive director of the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise, said in an interview.
Dr. Kang’s team instead is using a genetically modified whole virus that has been made inactive by chemicals and radiations.
The vaccine, SAV001, will now have to undergo three phases of human clinical trials;
- Phase 1. Beginning in January 2012, this phase will involve 30 HIV-positive people on whom safety will be retested.
- Phase 2. This phase will examine immune responses in humans and will involve 600 HIV-negative people who are at high risk of contracting the AIDS virus.
- Phase 3. This phase will determine the efficacy of the vaccine and will involve 6,000 HIV-negative volunteers at high risk of contracting the virus.
