Hi,

My brother is about to give his finals for O-levels for this session and he has to select college for A-levels.
Now, I am of the opinion that if a person wants to stay here in Pakistan A-levels is not the option for studies because if you pursue bachelor's later you have to get equivalence certificate in universities which decreases your original A levels grade. Though I believe that much of cheating is done in Intermediate but yet people are securing Grades in Intermediate and have great concepts as quality of study depends upon the teacher who is delivering lecture.

Kindly, guide what should be done as Nixor has already started the admissions and some other A-levels colleges would start soon.

Depends.... While Intermediate students can have concepts if you study from a good teacher... (Don't expect good lectures from government colleges)
The main thing is the difference in exam patterns... You'll have to write long answers/ratta/all that shit... I don't think most of the O-level guys could cope with that... They don't have that kinda shit iirc.

However the drawback to A-Level is the one you mentioned.... they decrease the grades when applying in uni
IF you are coming to intermediate... i'd say be prepared to join a good coaching center or attend good professors.

I don't know if A-level is a plus point when applying for post graduate abroad. Personally i think it's all about how well your knowledge and concepts are

Its all about building your concepts and for that a good guidance is required which one can get from a sound teacher who has excellent delivering skills however the "ratta" part is the most to worry about which most students cant cope up.

Also if you know about good A level colleges then do tell, as my brother has already started applying.
So still looking for more advices so to make a good decision.

A levels obviously.
First, It would be very hard for a O level student to switch to intermediate.
That equivalency thing isnt that much of a issue. You could still get admission in any university.
About the concepts thing, A levels is better at that than intermediate. A levels colleges also offer more than just good studies. They give you a better environment, better opportunities.
The thing you need the consider is:
Can you brother cope up the A level studies? Cause honestly speaking, it is extremely tough.
and, Can you afford a good A level college? Because they are insanely expensive. Nixor costs approximately 40k per month.

Sources: I am an A level student and I have many friends studying in Intermediate.

inter any time,a level is very expensive and teachers are not that good, they are just after money, you have to take tuition which's expensive too,if you wanna stay in pak then inter is the way to go and after all it depends on the student that how much serious he is in studies,

Beaconhouse A levels program. You can get a scholarship there at (BCCD which is in Defence) if you have 5As or more. Lyceum is one of the best and it costs around 30-35k. Southshore is all right and has some good teachers but the students there are mostly people who flunked or weren't really interested in their studies, mostly.

I'm sorry but you got the fees wrong, its around 40k per month.
Best A level colleges would be:
City PAF Chapter
Nixor College
The Lyceum
Southsshore
The best of these(studies wise) is Lyceum
However, if you arent filthy rich then the best option is to go to any City school or Beaconhouse branch as the ones mentioned above are very expensive and dont(very rarely) offer scholarships. On the other hand City school and beaconhouse offer scholarships to almost every student getting 5As or above.
Also, which ever college you go to, you would most probably need tuitions
