  • Meh...whats does an okay looking game, glorified by the video file cutscenes and the fact that its an exclusive, hold against this beauty? (sm1)
Grab your popcorn and watch the cerebral trolling hit a new low in the OT as more people have started playing Witchaaa 2
And my original post wasn't about any other game other than Crysis. I am sure your PC can run other games nicely.
But it doesn't look like it is at its full potential? Which was my original point, and you accepted it with your rig difference VM. Anywho, the discussion/fight/phadda is closed.
Considering I do not own a desktop right now, using my current one is not an option. Although, thank you so much for the detailed post. It'll be around 65k whereabouts, right? I'll look in to it and ask you if I have any queries. =)
    '
And why are you assuming that he hasn't installed any mods to unlock Crysis's full potential? As I told you before, a decent set up around 2000 $. Deny it all you want.
If you insist. Just so you know; the dude is older than me, and has been gaming since his childhood. His PC gaming experience and the fact that he is also studying games related programming is FAR more than yours could ever be. He is my primary source of geek info. You have been graciously warned.
Civilizations 5 - which I think is a far superior game - runs silky smooth. Just so your geek "friends" know, my specs are as follows.

ASUS AMD Crosshair IV Formula Motherboard
    AMD AM3 Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.4GHz CPU
    2 Sapphire Radeon HD 5870s @ 850MHx with 2GB GDDR5 ram apiece
    16GB Patriot Sector 5 DDR3 1600MHz system memory
2 Crucial C300 128GB SSD hard drives running in RAID-0
500GB Western Digital Caviar Blue 7200rpm drive for mass storage
Dell 30" 2560x1600 native resolution Monitor
    10x BD-Writer optical drive
Logitech G510 Gaming keyboard and mouse.

By the way, let them know that I've clocked my system full boot up (from moment I press the power button to the moment I can click on an icon) at a mere 14 seconds flat. That's not from sleep or hibernation mode but cold boot start up.

Now I just need to tell him, that you're not my 'friend'.
continued: Also, as another point of reference, some engineers at NASA decided to use our tax dollars on their spare time and managed to run the game at its MAX on a NASA computer mainframe which costs more than $50,000. Apparently, they had to optimize more than a million lines of code to do so and they had to install and optimize some game stability, graphics tweaking, and AI tweaking mods to get the results they wanted.

Anyway, put simply, a good $2,000 computer should be enough to run the game at a decent level but plopping $2,000 on just one game is a bit much. The machine I have - at twice the cost, allows me to play the game at a nice resolution of 2560x1600@30fps or at 1920x1200@+/-50fps with the rest of the settings set on medium high.
You are not gonna stop are you? Okay...I asked one of my online friends; best friend actually, who plans on visiting Pakistan just to meet me. I put forward this question, that it is impossible to run Crysis 1 on PC, so why? Yup, we are chums, and here's his response; Well, in regards to your question, there are several factors to consider i.e. the type of hardware, the configuration of the hardware which Crysis is running on, how optimized the hardware is, the optimization of the software in question (Crysis) and whether or not there are software tweaks and mods installed to run Crysis.

Ironically and just for future reference, the current machine I have running cost me more than $4,000 and yet, I was unable to run Crysis on max. The reason for this was due mostly in part because Crysis is one of the most inefficiently coded games of the last decade.
No dude, you failed to prove me wrong, period. My point: max settings + the shots as the target should be how your rig should show the game. And btw, is it even possible to show those level of details without max settings? I don't think so. Henceforth, that max setting point is always there by default.

Your rig can't produce that level of detail. I am right, and you are wrong. Keep telling yourself otherwise.
You missed the 'supposedly closely looks like' point? I have seen the in-game shots, have also seen the game running on an acquaintances PC. The game is insanely detailed. And the difference between those shots and the actual in-game footage is very very small. It doesn't matter what is missing, and what is not, and frankly speaking, I don't even want to know about how your rig performs. The game should speak for itself.

Also, the link I gave you? It also proves my point. Job done, and case closed. You didn't prove anyone wrong. End of discussion.
I asked you to run the game and make it look like those shots which the game is intended to - or supposedly closely - looks like. That was my entire point from the start, and hence the reason I asked you to give me evidence that your games looks like that. Look at my posts here, this is exactly what I implied/asked.

A lot of set ups can't accomplish those visuals, which is a fact. Is this discussion over now? The link should have proved my point.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
