Today, we have an important announcement from the development team of Tom Clancy's The Divisionfor you.

The past few years have been incredible for the team here at Massive ! When we started working on The Division , it was immediately clear to us that we had something very special here and something we really wanted to do right from the start. But we also knew that we would not be able to achieve this ambitious goal without your help.

Since the release of The Division 2 years ago, we have remained true to this philosophy. We have repeatedly used opportunities to interact with you. Be it via livestreams, polls or just social media. Also, the introduction of the Public Test Server was a way to immediately get feedback from you before we implement new extensive features or make changes to the game. We've never stopped striving to make The Division even better, and our recent update 1.8 is testimony to how we can see your overwhelming feedback and support.

All these new opportunities and experiences have also improved the team's internal processes. We have become quicker and can thus respond better to your feedback. But our vision of what matters to us and what makes The Division so memorable for so many people has never been clearer.

However, when we released our game in 2016, it was clear to us that it was just the opening chapter of a much bigger saga, so we're excited to share more with you today about what awaits you in The Division Universe next.

We are very pleased to announce that we are currently working on Tom Clancy's The Division 2 . The development is led by Massive Entertainment and driven by close collaboration with Ubisoft Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Shanghai. The Division 2 will be based on an updated version of the Snowdrop Enginethat will help us realize our ambitions for this title. More importantly, we can also invest all the experience we've accumulated over the past two years in this sequel to make sure everything is going well.

But that is not all. The division continues. After the celebrations of our 2 year anniversary, we will support the game with 2 more title updates. These will be 2 brand new Global Events; Include more Legendary difficulty missions and an Xbox One X update that will rediscover the beautiful and emblematic New York City with all its stunning details in both 4K and 1080p.

In addition, as of June 2018, players will also be able to play 'Crests', which are specific achievements that will allow them to unlock The Division 2 rewards.

The teams are extremely grateful for all the support over the past two years and we can not wait to show you what we have planned for The Division 2 during the E3 2018 in June.

- Julian Gerighty, Creative Director, Massive Entertainment

Update: In today’s livestream, Gerighty confirmed the sequel.
“It wasn’t an easy decision, but there are so many stories and so many experiences that we wanted to explore within the world of The Division that we felt a sequel was the best way to explore these things,” he said.
Mathias Karlson, the game director, added that “It’s an incredible opportunity to take all of that learning, all of that experience from what The Division is today and put it into a new game.”
Gerighty said more will be revealed at E3. Yannick Banchereau, the community manager for the game, said no other details, such as a launch date or other features, will be revealed until then.

That explanation is weak. Community feedback post launch for The Division and For Honor has been pretty positive. Unfortunately I cannot support Ubi's model. They should keep supporting the original game for a few more years.

The Division 2 brings the apocalypse to Washington DC; releasing 15th March, 2019

Ubisoft’s sequel to The Division is coming March 15th, 2019. The Division 2 will take place in Washington, D., after an apocalyptic plague has laid waste to the city. A new trailer for the game premiered today at the Xbox E3 press conference, along with a gameplay demo.

Ubisoft surprised fans of The Division, a online-only shooter-RPG hybrid in the vein of Bungie’s Destiny, with the official announcement of a sequel back in March. We didn’t get a ton of details about the game at the time, other than that it will again be developed by Ubisoft-owned Swedish studio Massive Entertainment and done so using an updated version of Ubisoft’s Snowdrop game engine.

[h=1]The Division 2’s private beta starts on Feb. 7[/h]

[h=2]The beta will be open until Feb. 10 on all three platforms that the game will be released on[/h]

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is getting a small-scale beta that will go live next month, weeks ahead of the game’s launch. The beta will be playable from Thursday, Feb. 7, to Sunday, Feb. 10, according to a trailer that Ubisoft released on Wednesday morning.
Players will be guaranteed access to the beta by pre-ordering The Division 2 from certain retailers. Those who haven’t pre-ordered the game can apply for the beta by registering onthe game’s website; however, only a limited number of registered players will receive access.
Ubisoft hasn’t announced what exactly will be in the beta. Based on the trailer, it’s safe to assume that players will get the chance to explore Washington, D.C., where the game is set, as well as possibly play some of the game’s earliest, low-level story content.

During the beta for the first game, players could also experience a limited section of the Dark Zone, where they were allowed to fight each other if they choose to. It’s unclear if that will be part of the beta for The Division 2 as well. Ubisoft says it will release more details on what will be included in The Division 2’s beta sometime before it officially starts.
When The Division 2 launches on March 15, it will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC (albeit not on Steam). The weekend beta will also be live on all three platforms.

[h=1]The Division 2: Get ready for some large day-one installations, even if you have a disc[/h]

[h=2]Ubisoft says PS4 players will need 100 GB of hard drive space.[/h]

If you’re planning on playing Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 on PlayStation 4, be prepared for a significant division of your console’s hard drive. Like, 92 gigabytes, and even if you’re installing it from the disc, there will be a beefy day-one download, which should go swimmingly as it’s coming through PlayStation Network. psn downloads site:polygon.com
This is all per Ubisoft itself, which set up this notification page telling players on all three platforms what to expect. However, it’s worded in a confusing way. Xbox One and PC players are told to expect a 48 to 52 GB download if they’re buying digitally. They’re also told to expect setting aside 48 to 52 GB of hard drive space for the game.
PlayStation 4 owners are told the same thing, except the file sizes are 88 to 92 GB in both cases. I’ve emailed an Ubisoft rep to ask for some clarity on what exactly is being installed from a disc for those who go that route. Many have; there are at least three special editionswith physical versions of the game packed in with collectibles and other doodads.
This page from Ubisoft also talks about file sizes and humongous title update downloads for both consoles, and also says players should expect downloads in the 50 GB (PC and Xbox One) to 100 GB (PS4 range), too. Moreover, there’s a Title Update 1.5 that has to download, for a 2 GB cherry on top.
Those who are buying Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 on Xbox One or PC digital marketplaces may preload it right now. For PS4, again, it’s different. They can get to the game 24 hours in advance of their launch time (which depends on which version was bought). Gold and Ultimate Edition owners start playing March 11 at 12:01 a.m. EDT, and everybody else gets it March 15.
Why the game has to be twice the size on PS4 as it is on Xbox One is anybody’s guess. It’s worth remembering this is still, basically, an MMO, and The Elder Scrolls Onlineand DC Universe Onlineboth eat up higher-than-average chunks of drive space on my machines.

Console Players Can’t Beat The Division 2’s Raid

The first team to complete the raid did so just over five hours after it launched at 5pm ET on Thursday. They were playing on PC, and, within minutes, other PC players followed. Leaderboards for the raid on PS4 remain empty. When we were last able to check the Xbox One’s leaderboards at 3pm ET today, those were empty, too.

PC players also often have some technological advantages, including higher frame rates and more precise mouse-and-keyboard controls, which can allow players, especially in shooter games like Destiny or The Division, to aim more quickly and more accurately. That’s one of the main issues console players struggling with Operation Dark Hours are citing.

“[T]he raid running at 60 fps is very different than the raid running at 30 fps,” one Reddit user wrote, while assessing why the raid was so much tougher on console than PC. They noted that encounters in the raid seemed to rely on players being able to quickly turn and aim without resorting to taking cover, something that’s much harder to do on consoles. They added: “the slow nature of the animations make it difficult to mow down multiple enemies in a short period of time.”
But but but....they do have access to analog movement and aim-assists :(

lol the reddit quotes the article is based on points at quick turns and the difference in frame rate. Some of the game logic would probably be tied to frame rate if the animations are slower at 30fps.

Console players never had a problem doing Destiny raids. Surely, it has nothing to do with Division 2's mechanics being worse lol.

Even funnier is the fact that it's been less than 48 hours since the raid was added to Division 2. It's not a very popular game on consoles, as sales didn't meet expectations. How big is the user base that's even attempting to complete it on the PS4 or Xbox One? lol
