Public Service Announcement: If you value your money, DO NOT buy electronics from HomeShopping.pk
I believe a vendor is best judged not when making purchases, but when you contact them for Warranty/ Returns. I have made a total of 03 purchases from HomeShopping and 02 out of those 03 were horrible experiences.
The first time was with Seagate Barracuda 1TB Hard Drive. Not only was I delivered the hard drive later than the promised date, it was also DOA (Dead on Arrival). I just thought that it was a bad piece and that it can happen. So I decided to use the "HSN 7 Days replacement policy" to get it returned and replaced. The whole process took more than 30 days to complete and during the whole time they kept on making excuses that they were out of stock and that they would restock this week, next week... and so on. I reported the hard drive to be DOA the same day I received it. Even then it took them 30 days to issue me a replacement. This speaks volumes about the so called "HSN Promise/ 7 day replacement policy". Any local retailer would've replaced the hard drive on the spot.
The second time was with a phone - Galaxy J3 Pro which I bought 2 months ago. Long story short, the screen shattered and I applied for warranty (which I paid Rs 2000 extra for at the time of checking out). I was told 03 days ago that they would get the replacement screen (which I would pay for) and the labor charges would be on them. Today I was told that they have no screens for the phone in stock (yes, they don't have parts for the phone that they were selling with warranty). I can bet that they also don't have any other parts for the phone. They have told me to wait "until they get a replacement screen". No time-frame, nothing. It could take weeks/ months/ years?
HSN's after-sales services are terrible. Their warranty/ replacement terms are dodgy and designed to fool customers. Stay away from them, if you value your money. No matter how good the deal, think hard before throwing your money at them. I would still recommend local shops for electronics and buying phones with the original manufacturer's warranty. If a company cannot honor a warranty, I would take everything that they say with a grain of salt. Just my two cents.
If and when HomeShopping decides to fulfill their end of the terms, I will update the thread. Until then, you have been warned. I was stupid, don't make the same mistakes.
