I understand PS4 isn't backwards compatible but can we expect the release of HD remastered PS3 games for the console in the near future?

[h=1]This is How PS4 Will Handle Mandatory Game Installations[/h]

Recently you may have noticed how huge next-gen games will be, and I'm not talking about the hype behind these titles. We're talking gigabytes here, and lots of them. Killzone Shadow Fall, for instance, will take up approximately 39 GB while Call of Duty: Ghosts will reserve 49 GB from the PS4's hard drive. This isn't just exclusive to PS4 either — Xbox One games are just as big. So how will these mandatory installations work on the PS4?

Kotaku has a report on what to expect when it comes to PlayStation 4 game installations. This time, both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will require mandatory disc-installations to help cut down load times. The Blu-ray drive, while three times faster than the PS3, just doesn't hold up when compared to loading games straight from HDD.

Mark Cerny, lead architect for the PS4, revealed disc-based games will begin caching to the system when the disc is inserted into the console. Not all titles will require to cache the whole game in order to play. Just like the PlayGo system when downloading PS4 titles, some games will only require a part of it cached/installed to begin playing. Knack, for example, will only require about 10 seconds of installation before it can boot up [Edit: Just to re-clarify, the original Kotaku story says that it'll take '10s of seconds']. The rest of the game's mandatory 37 GB cache will be streamed to the hard drive as the game is being played.

With these games having large cache files, one major concern is hard drive space. The PS4 will ship with an interchangeable 500 GB internal hard drive that can easily be filled with a handful of games. While Sony skirted around the idea of having the system auto-delete cache data as needed, Cerny says that Sony opted to instead let the user decide what and when to delete installed games. This decision will avoid the idea of gamers being "blindsided" by the system. Though I wouldn't mind an auto-delete option as long as it gives a prompt before it actually deletes.

PlayStation 4 is scheduled for release on November 15.

Seeing that the HD remasters on PS3 have been quite successful, I think we'll see the same pattern repeat on PS4 as well. However, don't expect remasters to come out before 2016-17.

Wow, why this much expensive?
A $320 ps3 costs about 26-30k, then why are Xbone and ps4 expected to be this expensive?
Next-gen consoles, inflated prices due to all the hype, availability issues and high demand all contribute to high prices of next-gen consoles.

Pakistani question :p

what will be the launch price here and from where you guys are getting your PS4'S ?? :D
Expect nothing below 50k.
I'll get mine probably early next year from wherever I can get reasonable prices.

Disappointed with the local player count support. Admittedly I won't be able to utilize this feature but the count should have been higher. LAN parties are becoming more and more common these days.

I have 1 question though, hopefully someone can dig out an answer for it. This FAQ seems like it's for U.S only. What of the other countries? What about the video streaming capabilities on twitch and Ustream for us? Can people from other countries avail this? If I make a PSN account on my PS4, can I choose U.S as my country and then avail all these features? In that sense it works just like how XBL works right now?

Worst case scenario, the prices will come down to 50k or less next year. I have no issue with that either.

[h=1]Trophies on PlayStation 4 Tells You How Rare Each One Is[/h]

The trophy meta-game on PlayStation 4 just got a bit more interesting. On PS3 and Vita, trophies were valued by three types: gold, silver, and bronze. Platinum trophies, the holy grail of all trophies, signified that a player earned all core trophies for a game. On PlayStation 4, trophies will go a level deeper by integrating a system that shows how rare each trophy is.

Kotaku reports that trophies on the PlayStation 4 will have an additional classification: common, rare, very rare, and ultra rare. The rarity of each trophy will be determined and calculated across the PlayStation Network as members earn trophies. Say for example people are playing a specific game and there's this one trophy that only a few members have achieved within a pool of thousands of players. Since only a handful have earned the trophy, it'll classify that trophy as ultra rare. That trophy can change its rarity depending on how many players earn it later on.

Sounds pretty cool. This should make it easy for trophy hunters to take a quick look to see if a game is worth playing for easy trophy gathering.

The rest of the trophy system seems to remain the same, according to Kotaku. You'll still earn trophies to fill a bar to upgrade your trophy level. Trophies can be earned offline and they'll have to sync online, presumably just like the PS3/Vita. According to the PS4 FAQ from Sony, automatic trophy syncing is now available to everyone, a perk that was once gated behind PlayStation Plus. So it should be slightly less annoying on PS4.

PlayStation 4 is set to launch on November 15.

[h=1]7 facts you might have missed about the PS4[/h]

With the exhaustive online (and offline) coverage of the PlayStation 4 for the past few weeks, consumers have a pretty good idea of what to expect. But for all the focus on the system's pluses and minuses and which games are worth your time, there are a few details that may have slipped past you.
While it may not change your mind about wanting - or not wanting - a PS4, it's information that could still come in handy, or at the very least give you a deeper knowledge of the new console's nuances.

1. It won't play 3D Blu-ray movies. While Sony was, at one point, leading the charge for 3D in the gaming world (even going so far as to manufacture a 3D monitor for the PS3), it's seemingly less bullish about the technology in the next generation. Games can still be played in 3D on the PS4, but people who want to use the system to watch Avatar or some other film in 3D at home are going to be out of luck.

2. It won't support universal remotes. The focus of the PS4 is heavily on games, but the system also supports many general entertainment apps -- such as Netflix and Hulu Plus -- and Sony’s pushing its own Video Unlimited service. While gamers might be fine with navigating these via their DualShock 4 controllers, other members of the household might prefer a traditional remote. For now, though, they're out of luck.
The PS4 doesn't support infrared (IR) remote control commands, meaning it won't work with any universal remote control on the market. And while the PS3 had a dedicated remote control available for general-entertainment needs, Sony has not yet announced one for the PS4.

3. You can't game in 4K. Admittedly, not many people have ultra-high-definition TVs in their homes, but manufacturers are betting on the technology to be 'the next big thing'. Sony, which makes some of those sets, is hedging its bets, though. Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton earlier this year confirmed that while the PS4 is 4K-capable for movies and still images, it won’t be for games. That said, if you've got one of those high-end sets, they automatically upconvert video signals -- so the games will still look really, really good.

4. It won't play CDs or MP3s - for now. Sony surprised a lot of people when it said media server functionality would not be a part of the PS4. In short, that meant people couldn't stream their home videos or music through the system. Additionally, CD playback wasn't built into the machine, presumably because CDs aren't nearly as popular as they were eight years ago.
The outcry could prompt changes, though. Shuhei Yoshida, president of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, told GiantBomb the teams are already working on a possible fix, saying "the system guys are discussing how and when we can put these features on PS4."

5. You can shop around for digital games. Digital distribution is a big part of the next generation, but you won't be forced to buy your digital PS4 games exclusively from the PlayStation store. Amazon has opened an outlet in the PlayStation Network, and others may follow. That's good news for people who want to bargain-hunt for the best deals as in the brick-and-mortar retail world.

6. There's a reason it's slanted. The parallelogram design of the PS4's hardware was done for a specific reason, say Sony officials. The front is angled upwards, to make it easier for users to press the power and eject buttons. (That's assuming you can find them, as Sony has made them nearly invisible.) The back of the system slopes down to better hide the cables and make your entertainment cabinet appear less cluttered.

7. It has its own app. Second-screen gaming isn't limited to the PS Vita for PS4 owners. Sony has released a companion app for the console for both Apple and Android devices. That will let players check messages while they're away and access the PlayStation store.
Select games will also incorporate the app into gameplay. (In the bundled game The Playroom, for instance, you can draw a picture on your mobile device and flick it onto the screen for the robots to play with.) You'll be able to watch live and recorded PS4 games through the app as well.
