[SOLVED] Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Hello all,
I'm looking for a new phone for my brother since his Xperia Z is dying.
I came across Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 SD variant in another thread on this forum.
I have a few concerns regarding this phone.

Will this be a good successor to Xperia Z?
Will it receive official Nougat update? GSMArena does not mention anything regarding this.
How is custom ROM scenario with this phone?
Any particular drawbacks of this phone?
How is its display?
Should I look for another phone in this price range?

Moreover, is there any outlet in Lahore where I can check this phone in person?

Answer: Mi promised Nougat update at the time of launch and have already released beta version of it. Stable version is coming soon.

How is custom ROM scenario with this phone?

Answer: Dont know about custom Roms

Any particular drawbacks of this phone?

Answer: Average Camera performance during Low Light.

How is its display?

Answer: Fantastic

Should I look for another phone in this price range?

Answer: In 20.5K no one is providing this much specifications (32GB|3GB version). You can look for Honor 6X which has Nougat update released already, excelent camera, FP scanner but lacks Telenor 4G band supports and No VoLTE which Jazz and Zong going to provide.

Redmi Note 4 has excellent battery timing. Almost double than OPPO phones like F1s, A57 etc. It will definitely going to have Nougat and probably O as well. It has VoLTE, dual app download facility. Moreover it has excellent built quality and premium look. With high quality metallic body and low price you can use it without any case which gives phone full premium look in your hands.

I will suggest you dark grey color which could be called Silver in Pakistan as well.

Moreover, is there any outlet in Lahore where I can check this phone in person?

Answer: Mi has placed its phones at Zong Customer service center. You can visit and check phones in person there. But buy only from daraz.pk it will cost you 500 less if you use Mobile500 coupon in their app and will give you 6 GB Zong internet card.

I have dark grey. It has front panel black and grey back. Black version looks too black and I find Gold color as ladies.

Ahan I guess I have to go with dark grey than. I had handson with Black unit only so was wondering how would be grey as compare to black.

The chipset in redmi note 4 isnt chart topping but at the same time its very efficient, you will love it when you will go 2 days without a charge and 8-10 hrs of screen on time, nothing beats xiaomi in battery department. I am using Mi Max for past 6 months and I just love the phone. Do check that if you need something really really big.

Agree with you. Well Max is too big for me can't use it as a daily driver so Note 4 will be fine.

If you use MagiskSU, then it had the MagiskHide feature which passes SafetyNet and all apps work fine. I used Easypaisa, JazzCash and Standard Chartered on a rooted device and enabled MagiskHide and they worked just fine.

i am unable to run Easypaisa app on my phone and says Easypaisa cant run on rooted device and i didnt rooted my phone at all, the previous version the app was running fine
will try and see if it fixes it

Magisk is a different SuperUser app for root controls on rooted phones. Previously SuperSU was the most common but it didn't have the ability to hide root access from some apps, Magisk has solved that.

Flash the ZIP file, download MagiskManager and activate MagiskHide, then go in and tick the apps you don't want to have root access.
