Windows 7 and Vaio brightness control problem( FN +F5/F6 )

Well,I've installed windows 7 HP 64bit via Vaio upgrade cd's ,but ever since I have installed Win 7, I'm not able to adjust screen brightness .

Tried to google the solution ,but all in vain

Whats the model of your laptop?

Obviously it has got to do with the drivers as Win 7 just got released. I'm thinking you'll have to wait for proper 64-bit drivers. 32-bit won't necessarily work.

Try this:

Go to this site ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/ and download the latest versions of the Sony Firmware Extension Parser driver, Sony Shared Library, setting utility series, and vaio event service, and vaio control center if you want that too. You only need the first 3 for everything to work. Then just install them in this order, rebooting after each one.

SFEP driver
Sony Shared Library
Setting Utility Series
Vaio Control Center (if you want it)
Vaio event service

It worked for me on my CR series, should be the same on your FZ series. Hope this helps.

This guy had the same issue with the FN keys. If the drivers are for Vista, it might help to install them using Compatibility Mode.

yup ! they acted quite fast ,but not that fast .IMO they should have included those drivers in the windows upgrade cd sent by vaio to me .
