Why do shopkeepers keep selling Korea only region 3 ps3 games?

This has become a huge problem at least in Islamabad. Every new game that is on sale seems to be region 3 Korea only version. Aside from the fact that you are paying thousands of rupees for a game containing a manual which is 100% in Korean, with the release of Resistance 3 it has become a huge issue. Resistance 3 requires you to enter Sonys new and controversial network pass system to enable multiplayer. The Korea only version of Resistance 3 has codes that only work on a Korean PSN account. And good luck creating a Korean PSN account just for that. If you try to do that all of the psn interface switches to Korean and in the end you would be required to enter your Korean resident number among other things and entering random info won't work. I had to return Resistance 3 after spending many frustrating hours trying to enable multiplayer.

Tldr; what is wrong with Isb (and possibly all Pakistan) shopkeepers when they insist on importing "for Korea only" versions of PS3 games. Why can't they sell a normal region 3 title or any other region. And where can I find a non Korean version of Resistance 3?

probably because they're smugglers. they smuggle the games from korea maybe because its easy for them. i dunno, just sayin. but everyonu know who has the same problem, u can inVite them to PG , in the market place section in games and accessories, amaga and Sevolution sell PS3 games. i think Sevolution also has non korean resistance 3 already. go check.

Tell me about it, I'm stuck with the exact same predicament. It's impossible for a non-Korean resident to make a Korean PSN account (unless they have a valid KSSN), and hence there's no way of redeeming the online pass that comes with Resistance 3.

There is one hope - getting a new online pass from the Hong Kong store. Both Korea and Hong Kong fall under Region 3, so technically, there's no reason why it shouldn't work. Or maybe not. :S

What luck! First, my PS3 dies, and now I can't play Resistance 3 online. At this point, all I want to do is repeatedly bash some Sony executive's head against the concrete floor. :chair:

@Muaaz: In the local Isb market, all the new games are region 3 Korea Only versions: I checked Plug n Play, Illusions, Kiran, One Stop Shop, etc. Did I miss any? Famous Toys maybe. Just as an example: Dead Island - For Korea Only, Resistance 3 - For Korea Only, Deus Ex - For Korea Only. I have other Region 3 games and thankfully those are Normal and don't say "For Korea Only" on the back and actually have English manuals, etc. I guess there's a reason those games say "For Korea Only". They're for Korea only and Koreans (and Japanese) have no interest or intention of doing anything in English.

@CerebralTiger: I've decided to go for Resistance 3 Region 2 version whether it's SE or just the regular one from PakGamers market. Yes my fat PS3 also died during a session of Red Dead Redemption a couple of weeks ago. It couldn't be fixed and I lost all my saves, etc. I replaced it with 320 GB slim. The worst thing is that I had to redownload almost 12 GB of stuff ranging from updates to actual games (i.e. Infamous, Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction, etc) from PSN. And yes Sony is going in the wrong direction. They got rid of Linux, PS2 backwards compatibility, any PS3 with recent firmware will not play back downloaded recent movies from Sony Pictures such as The Tourist etc due to Cinavia DRM (I've experienced this myself), and now the network pass thing. And don't forget that Asian versions of PS3 have the X and O buttons interchanged for cancel/enter as opposed to US/European versions (this includes PSP also). Extremely annoying and there's no setting to switch them the other way around. Only someone who has used Asian and non Asian console will realize this.

As for any hope in creating Korean PSN account. You can practically forget about it. I did create a HK account but it wouldn't accept the Korean codes. Also HK has English interface but if you switch country to Korea the whole interface changes to Korean. IMO not worth the effort to go through Korean interface, try to find a working KSSN number etc etc. Try to return the game if possible and get Region 2.

Yeah, the code that comes with the Korean copy doesn't work on the HK store, but if you buy a new online pass from the HK store, there's a chance that it might just work. The DLC/code region is locked to its respective PStore, but as far as game disc goes, both Korea and HK fall under Region 3.

It even says it's for the "English/Korean version", so there's a chance it might just work.

Yes you are right I think it will work. However, you would be paying extra for something which you were supposed to get for free. And the game came with 2 codes. If one is to enable multiplayer, what's the other one for? Some other DLC maybe? Of course everything was in Korean so it's hard to understand anything.

I don't visit the markets much. And I've only visited local shopkeepers in Lahore, and I found Region 2 games mostly.
But I haven't been to a shop for a long time now, so I can't really say whether it's still the same situation or not.

no, trust me, they are mostly all region 2, and if they are not i think you should know yourself whether you want to purchase such a game knowing it isn't the region game you desire??

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
