When did you learn to drive?

Just curious about one thing. A pillow would raise you up, so....... that would increase the distance between the pedals and your feet and not allow you to reach the pedals more easily.

When I was your age I used to say the same.

Asal maza hi manual mai hay bhai! And I'm not talking about crazy stuff. Simple driving. I prefer the manual one over the automatic one at my place if the driving time doesn't exceed two hours in one stretch and there isn't going to be a lot of traffic.

When I didnt know how to drive, I also used to think the same but as soon as I understood the basic principle of manual transmission, I really like shifting, and thats with your mind and not only your hand.

There may be another reason for this too. The best manual car I ever drove was a Chevrolet Cherry QQ and the only automatic car I have driven is a 2007 City I-DSi.

I actually don't drive. I just learnt to drive and only drive when extremely needed. For eg, I one drove the car from an underground parking plaza to the surface. Plus, I mostly help my father in parking the cars. So

They limit the freedom, are a useless luxury and ONLY good for traffic jams otherwise Manual FTW.

I probably started learning around 14-15 on manual cars. After a few years, drove my first automatic car while on way to naran and it was crazy. Barely survived getting hit twice in first few hours and felt like I had no control over it. But a few hours later I did get the feel of it and it got just as good as manual later. And I've been driving auto since and occasionally when I have to drive a manual car, it does feel odd at first but after an hour or so it comes natural. I prefer auto now(especially because I take drive-thru meals often I guess ). However I really don't like driving anymore and prefer others to drive whenever possible.

Not gonna side with auto vs manual...but I hope you guys know that manuals are pretty much old tech and are slowly dying.

DCT systems are better since a computer is faster than human. They also allow the driver to control the RPM for shifting, but there is no clutch. All new industry leading companies in terms of innovation and making true cars are shifting to this. Porsche has it, BMW has it, Mercedes has it, hell even Lambos and others have it now.

Just saying.
Another thing worth noting is the shift to electric steering from hydraulic steering. Has to be the worst thing to happen to the auto industry recently! Totally kills the road feel.

I used to live in Kuwait, I used to drive Automatic there only. Now I am 17 and live in Lahore. Driving Manaul is difficult but a lot fun. Still getting used to it.
