Seems like the Ivy Bridge platform looks more promising as ever! With the latest benchmark slides that have surfaced, one can be sure to expect some noticeable improvements in the architecture over the to-be-superseded Sandy Bridge platform.
The hwbot member had himself this to say:

Although the selection of test items is not the most convincing, but it can also be seen Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge, when the frequency close to the performance gap.

As far as Intel’s policy goes, Ivy Bridge is Tick (more of as a Tick + as claimed by Intel officials) with showing there isn’t much gap with Sandy Bridge and having the average advantage of 3%. In terms of the IGP or integrated graphics on the CPU, there will be an increase of 35% in DirectX 9.0c, no further comment has been given over improvements in DX10 or 11.

Did you check the power consumption on Ivy Bridge? I know it doesnt mean anything for us but this means that Ivy Bridge-E will be super fast.
What's are the stock and overclocked TDP's on the IB-E?

TDP would be 30-50W lower compared to SB-E since its based on a 22nm + 6/8 Core design.

Good thing is that it would be compatible with X79 Chipset and Socket 2011.

Also AFQ's post is true, Ivy Bridge is awesome. It can easily reach 5Ghz @
1.17V (Provided you supply adequate cooling :p)

Its 10% faster also but the Most Interesting feature in IVY bridge is that it will support PCIE 3.0 Generation GPUs.....

Lolwut? PCI-e Gen 3 Motherboards are already out but is there any GPU yet which properly utilizes PCI-e 3.0? Heck even current gen cards cannot fully utilize PCI-e 2.0 bandwidth.

PCI-e 3.0 is the most lame ass feature. The most interesting thing is the Performance/Watt of the new chips.

I don't think SB-E will enjoy the performance crown as much like 1366 Procs did (approx. 3-4 years) as already it's replacement is getting ready (IVY-E)...
Meanwhile AMD is still busy shoving the bulldozer up their "you know what"..<_<

what are the expected prices of ivy bride processors and mobo???????
The CPU's are gonna cost pretty much the same as what current SB processors are priced.

i7 3770K would replace i7 2700K

i5 3550K would replace i5 2500K

SB prices would fall in Q1 2012.

ivy bridge processors will be more suitable for laptops due to its low power requirement and heat dissipation.
and in desktop category ideal for overclockers..

and btw who will purchase SB over Ivy bridge now ?
this thing is 4 Months away from release and they won't be sold at those advertised price over here so whoever is out to buy a system shouldn't be bothered with 5/10% performance increase unless someone's really desperate for the ivy's integrated graphic solutions.
