I am getting emails from wateen about their fibre service in karachi. they are operating from shahrah e faisal.service is quite expensive.

OMG Stormfiber was bearable but this is insane 2k extra for tax.I dont know who is running the the company they should have been gone with some other cheaper fiber tech not for gpon.I would still wait for official word cuz these prices in such competition is unrealistic.:no:

satcomm is also providing services in jamshed town and gulshan areas, price is lower then wateen with flat 12k installation and 3900 for 6 mbps

After being with Mobilink/Linkdotnet (fiber, 2mbit CIR) for a year, I decided to try Wateen. Got in touch with them yesterday, they deployed the fiber today. I expect the splicing to happen tomorrow, and then they'll turn it on on-demand.

My mobilink contract expires end of April, so I'll wait until then (I guess). For anyone interested, my costs follow:
Setup is approximately 22-24k
Recurring is 16,261 for 20mbit + 1,400 for a /30 IP.
Downlink is guaranteed 20mbit, uplink is shared between 4; my to-be account manager on Wateen indicated I can expect 5-6mbit of upload at all times irrespective of on/off-peak. That's fair enough for me.

For comparison, over the last year, I've had Mobilink's corporate CIR fiber @ 2mbit down/up for PKR 20,178 per month. Setup cost me around 50k. So it's a no brainer I decided to jump ship.

Wateen's carrier is TES. They run PIE as backup. Mobilink's carrier is TES too. I also run an 8mbit PTCL DSL as backup. I'll perform ping tests once Wateen is online, for anyone interested.

My account manager said the team will splice the fiber on Saturday, and he'll then turn the internet on when I request it to be; I asked him to do so on May 1st. I'll get you all ping tests once it's online.

So the fiber was deployed a day after I spoke to my account manager. The splicing then happened about approximately 4 days later. They were going to switch it on the same day, but things didn't go my way and they had a fiber related problem in the area. Just got it resolved today, and got me online. I'm also paying for a static IP, as I require that among other things.

Let me know what IPs/hosts you need me to run ping tests to. Speeds are constant 20mbit, bursts to 23-24mbit at times download. Upload appears to be capped at 5mbit.

I like pings their pings. they are far better from other networks. i might give it a shot
