Wateen 10mb DHA Lahore

Hello guys! My ptcl connections is working like a donkey cart.I am thinking about shifting to wateen 10mb. Anyone living in DHA Lahore got some idea about its performance e.g speed during 8pm to 1 pm,pings,youtube streaming ??? Waiting anxiously for your replies.

Wateen is known to throttle as well, or they're probably just crap. I don't know.
[MENTION=122977]lifetalk[/MENTION] used to have a Wateen Fiber connection and he said it was terrible during peak hours, just like the issue you're facing on PTCL. Not recommended.

Get another Fiber based ISP like StormFiber or FiberLink when they're available in your area.

Wateen was/is terrible at peak hours. I had multiple calls with their 'engineers' about this. One indicated that this was because I was on a shared connection and not dedicated. The other refuted that claim but said there was nothing they could do about slowdowns outside of Pakistan networks.

I have opted for 10mbps ! they said that there is 5 days money back guarantee,if I am not satisfied during my 5 days period then they will refund me my FULL amount IN CASH.I live in dha lahore and only hfc is available here not gpon.I am sick of peeetcl it has been a month of slow inetrnet,complained to PTA about this,the next day a tech guy came to my house checked my internet and said there is a back end problem will be resolved soon and went away, two or three days later nothing no response no nothing! FIBERLINK,OPTIX,cybernet aren't available in my area.The only ISPs available are wateen or ptcl :tears:.So, the only choice left is wateen lets see how things go.Will report speed test results here when the connection is installed.

HFC might be even worse than Fiber during peak hours. Still, let us know how it works

Sure, One more thing they said that the minimum bandwidth that I'll get during peak hours will be 5 mbps. Let's see if they remain true to their words.:ripped:

still no connection it should have been installed on Monday but no response.Let's see if it gets installed tomorrow.:tears:

They probably held it off since installing on Monday would've required them to monitor the connection closely right after installation, something they didn't want to do during Muharram holidays, if not tomorrow, and not friday, AND not Saturday, I'd just sit tight till next Monday.

yeah i heard from a friend too wateen is sh*t in lag on online games too, high pings and what not, online games like cod etc are unplayable on it

Stay away from Wateen

Just got my connection installed today at 1:00 pm disconnected at 4 p.m. Nothing more to say horrible service.Was facing very high ping almost double than that of PTCL. Youtube was working fine, but when I did a speed test on international servers the speed did not exceed 2mbps on a freakin 10mbps connection.I have a paid vpn service,It was also working horribly.PTCL all the way SARKAR ka net zindabad.IT is my humble request to all to stay away from wateen.

Just to be clear this was HFC and not GPON right?

Was there a fiber ONT at your house or a cable modem?

cable modem. Gpon is not available in my area phase 3.
I have heard some guys talking about optix starting its services in dha phase 5. OPTIX is I think FTTH service provider. Anyhow,I am very happy that wateen is giving me full refund.

Optix is FTTH, a very good ISP, however just a tad more pricey than the other FTTH ISPs like FiberLink and StormFiber.

I willing to pay more bucks for better and consistent speed. Anyways, I moving to dubai by the end of this month,for job hunting,will be posting internet speedtest from their in free time.

Get a local SIM from 'Du' instead of Etisalat. You'll be saving tons since it has better packages, enjoy their 70 Mbps LTE while you're at it.

I have been using Wateen HFC 10MB for a few months now, disconnected ptcl because was satisfied by wateen especially in the first month or so it was great could easily do full hd and upto 2k streaming no issues. The pings were a lot better my little brother could finally do online gaming on his ps4. But for the last week or so it became really shitty very low speed on peak times like around 2-3Mbps, random disconnections but the pings were still good, i complained a few times and talked to a guy he said that they were working on it and that it will get better soon and true enough after checking today its gotten much better the local server on speediest.net pings have increased from around 10 to 30 but international servers are much better just did a few speed tests and singapore was 124ms london and paris were 200 and 175 US were around 250ish average and middle east around 300 . the speeds on international servers have improved as well 8-9 Mbps to singapore around 6-8 Mbps europe side and 5-6 middle east. On torrents you always get full speed but unfortunately international speeds vary a lot pings though usually stay on the lower side.

Wateen share it's bandwidth from Transworld which owns its own last mile cable.Whereas,PTCL has its own cable network like Transworld.I have complained to PTA about slow speed and crappy customer support, the next day tech guy came to fix the issue :rock:.After that it has been nearly a week,I haven't had any slow browsing or downloading issues no matter if it is night,day,evening,afternoon or even eclipse :rock:.I have tried various isp's but none come close to PTCL. I have tested my speed on all of the servers shown above I get 20 to 30 ms less ping.The only downside is that I can only achieve 7 mbps download and 1mbps upload,as these monkeys set my profile to 8192mb which was previously 10204 mb. I can only get 1mbps upload as I am on adsl.Waiting for ptcl to launch gpon service in my area or will wait for fiberlink to come to my area.
