Wateen 1 month free with 2 months quick load, Scam or real ?

I got a call from a cell phone no today, they guy said he is talking from wateen. He offered a free month if I charge up the connection for next two months and will get a third month free.

However I asked him if I do this through normal card recharge, he said no. Than I asked if I go to wateen franchise and ask for this, he said no. Than he told me this only works if a person visits your premises and performs a quick load. I repeatedly asked him what's the difference in quick load and card recharge for which he didn't gave any suitable answer.

I told him, if wateen wants a bhatta on force recharging through quick load and visiting customer to do so, why are there recharging cards etc. He answered with that the quick load is free etc etc.

I ended up the call telling him that I am complaining to PTA and will talk to wateen about this, for which he seemed careless.

Anyone has any idea what's going on if other's are getting same calls.

Sounds like a scam to me. If wateen was offering a month free for every two months they would surely have the promotion available through all payment methods. The thing about not being available at the franchise almost confirms that its crap. These days frauds are fairly common through mobile phones. Don't trust any such call or sms is my advice

Its Obviously a scam.

I said ok come, he came took the money but couldn't perform that easy load right at the spot, but since he had my address and customer no and all info beforehand I thought lets give it a shot. I paid him cash for 2 months which for my case was Rs. 3350 the guy took it and went saying it'll be done in 10-15 mins. I was feeling a bit stupid for taking such a risk but after 15 mins the load indeed came through. It's not a scam, atleast in my case.

In case if someone doubts it a better idea will be to confirm it via their help line although it didn't occur to me to do so

Yes, that's the point. If such offer is available than why is it not valid through card reload or through franchise. Now a days you can't tell some unknown entity to come to your house. Specially when call wasn't through internal system number.

However since you confirmed it, it sure has some basis.

Well it was stupid of me but I didn't give him my address instead when he asked for it I said you should have it in your database look it up from there. It's lazy & irresponsible of Wateen, they should have put some sort of info on the website as well.

Seems like a scam OR may be he is running a gange of dakoos. Dont trust anyone who dont have right answer of your questions. A big company like wateen would never introduce such a non-sense recharge service which can only be performed by physical visit of customers residence. It makes no sense.

With regard to his careless attitude aftere your threat of complaining to PTA, most probably he is using fake sims having no identity on record. So he knows nothing going to happen.

These guys are probably sales agents. They get paid a commission on the easy load. Maybe they pass on some of that to you guys in the form of that free month. Or maybe the company foots the bill for that as a marketing expense or whatever. Either way it might be legit.

Another possibility is that they've stolen the charge cards and are looking to sell them on. Maybe there is some internal fraud going on in wateen.

We can speculate till the cows come home. It would be better if someone spent the Rs. 3-4 and called the ISP and confirmed .
