just received this update via OTA, my current version of kitkat is butter smooth and i would say most reliable . is it worth updating my phone to lollipop ? i just cannot compromise performance. if any of you guys have updated it, please input your experience.

It will perform better than kitkat. I have updated my moto e to lollipop and it performs a lot better than what it did in kitkat. Standby time have improved a great deal as well. The amount of ram free for applications was about 100 MB in kitkat but has jumped to around 300MB. So if e have been buttery smooth, the G will fly with lollipop.

TBH I've experienced a tiny bit of lag on my XT1033 after updating to L (keeping in mind, I didn't do a factory reset, instead it was a 'dirty flash').
I found KK smoother. However, it could be because of me not doing the reset.
However, considering L is on ART, I'd advise you to update but do a full wipe and all. Other than the tiny bit of lag, 5.0 runs flawlessly on Moto G.

Keep in mind LP5.0 has some bugs like battery and memory leaks, not sure if these exist in moto g. Check xda to make up your mind

Using Brazilian 5.0.2 for more than a month.
There is lag but no memory leaks. Motorola fixed it.
And I flashed it about 5 times. :'D while doing factory resets but lag still persists.
Feel free to ask anything.

what kind of lag ? does mobile take longer to load apps or its interfaces is laggy than the kitkat ? have you checked any games like asphalt and dead trigger ?

I haven't checked any games as it's my mothers phone, but there is slightly lag in the interface sometimes. The launcher stutters a bit. Other than that its perfectly fine. Apps are opening the same as KK and all other things are working okay!
Update if you don't mind the slight lag, otherwise KK is a good choice too. :)

First when i updated to 5.0.1,there was considerable lag and battery timing became worse. After factory reset there was marked improvement in battery timming but lag was still there. Now after updating to 5.1, there is almost no lag in interface and overall performance is pretty good.

Did the 5.1 update come as an OTA update or did you install it manually by copying the zip to the internal storage?
Also, is yours an XT1032 or XT1033?

Well mine is xt1032 and 5.1 update did came as OTA update 1 day ago. Though size was 170 MB Which means there are substantial improvements and stability fixes under the hood.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
