the lifetime is appropriate because you don't keep them on all the time like working in the day, when your computer is downloading files etc a night when your asleep. that is why they have a switch which can be easily accessed from the backside of your case so when you invite some friends over you can showoff.
they are powered off by your pc's power supply's molex connector (the 4 pin connector used to power your ide drives).

they are cold cold because of the way they generate light, like your domestic tubelights. normal light bulbs produce light by 'heating up' the filament wires. cold cathodes (or ccfl - cold cathode flourescent lamp) produce light by excites vapours of mercury etc. by applying high voltage (680v) across them. this produces very little heat as compared to a normal light buld. the high voltage is provided by an inverter which coverts 12v from the power supply to 680v just like the inverter in a UPS or a tubelight's choke

    Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
