your idle cpu temps depend on your ambient temperatures as well. you cant have your computer in a room which is around 35+ degrees and expect your cpu to be 30 idling. its just not possible.

i get around 42-45 degrees on idle when i dont switch the ac on and i have a liquid cooling setup....when the ac is switched on however, the temperatures drop to 32-35.

what comes to my mind (i could be wrong) is that since the fan is pulling air and is seated right above the card, which also produces heat even at idle, that hot air is also sucked by the cpu cooler fan and blown out the top o the casing. basically fan is pulling hot air from the card and pushing it through the cooler out o the casing. that also affects the temperatures a bit.

Once again i could be wrong about this though

Haha just as expected. Alienware's shop is really taking off eh..
Good. I hope he keeps providing us with cool products at even cooler prices :)

BdW, congrats on your purchase.

This could be thermal paste application problem. Even if ambients are high, load temps are not supposed to be that high on stock clocks.

Pleasant, considering its an HDT cooler, it need more amount of paste as compared to other coolers.

What tm function i didnt get what u mean

Alienware i agree what u said i know u cant have the same as room temp the card could be the reason do
about the thermal paste i dont think it was propely evenly spread both on the cooler and chip
i will try to tighten cooler bit more

Alienware i have 35c room ambient and i am idling at 42c is that high for quadcore ?

if your room ambient is 35 degrees, i GUESS your cpu is idling fine. regarding afq saying that it should not increase so much on load at stock speed, well yes i will have to agree with that too.

And offcourse my gpu was hot as well i m thinking that too that hot air is being pulled from gpu

always apply the paste by forming an X on the chip.... and by TM function i meant... the throttle mode with all CPUs... it basically clocks down ur CPU n ur multiplier for less power consumption n temps... it should be enabled in bios....

Coolers or heatpipes never feel hot when we touch them.

You can try pressing it a lil bit by the help of hand running prime 95, that will show you if mounting needs to be tighten.

yar don't put too much force while tightening the screws of the cooler coz they may break. Secondly applying thermal paste with HDT coolers is a bit different i think, i 1st apply very very thin layer on the processor and then use v.little amount of paste to fill in the gaps at the base of cooler between heatpipes coz if u don't fill them the heat bubbles may start to appear in those gaps hence high load temps.

Reapplied the Thermal paste and remounted the Cooler tighten up the retination
now things are fucked up more now the temp arised to 62 63 on load 44c idle

Now What ?

bro i wud say reseat da cooler in other position by putting ur fan a little bit aboce rams nd u shud first fill da gaps between heatpipes nd apply line of thermal paste on each heat pipe nd den spread it evenly on base nd den fit coooler on da cpu, dats wat i did wid my hyper212+.

I cant put it above the ram , Fan Doesnt Fit becoz there is no place left for TIEing up and i beilive switiching the position wont do too Great

I think i have lost my faith in HDT Coolers. :|
LOL its not like that i think my chip runs Hot i heard it depend on CPUVID

i know if i even setup water cooling i wont be getting too Good Temps with it Becoz my Ceiling Fan Doesnt work :D it works like snail i am using Pedistal fan which is Blowing air on my Face

What i have seen is that Core 2 Duo are much Better in Temps than45nm Quad
