i was thinking of geting this cooler for my new rig coming up core i7-860 , would it do a good job to cool the cpu in this heat or not .

Yes this cooler supports intel sockets LGA1366 /LGA1156 / LGA775 and this cooler can do the great job in reducing heat.
On Galaxy its price is RS.2400
If you have more money then you must buy Hyper N520 (RS.3500) which is an excellent cooler otherwise Hyper 212 plus is also great.
Other factors are also important such as room temperature.
