It is probably FTTH, some other ISPs like StormFiber use fiber on poles where digging isn't feasible or not allowed.murtaza12 So a small isp has popped up in my town, they are providing FTTH connections with Huawei Devices. I just want your thoughts on how they are handling things. So instead of digging and laying down fiber they are using the poles. Are there any Fiber wires which can survive the above ground conditions? Their Wire Seems to be Thick which makes me doubt if it is even fiber at all. Is it possible that they are lying and using copper wire for the poles and just using Fiber from Pole to the home? Does that even work? Also they are getting their bandwidth from multinet which i think uses transworlds fiber.
The packages they are offering are quite bad TBH. They arent offering a fixed bandwidth for their packages just like nayatel. These are some of their packages.
1 Mbps to 2 Mbps Both Up & down = Rs 1000
2 Mbps to 4 Mbps Both Up & down = Rs 1500
3 Mbps to 6 Mbps Both Up & down = Rs 2000
They are offering upto 100 mbps connections. To me the speed is quite low compared to other isps. I spoke to the tech guy on the issue of the varying speed. I asked him about like at what time will i experience these speed boosts, he said it will be random. Im getting a connection to tryout anyway. Im really fed up with PTCL. Installation charges are Rs 4500 which again are low compared to other ISPs.
They can survive most stuff, but if someone sabotages their equipment and cuts their wires deliberately, that's a different issue.
2k for 'Up to' 6 Mbps seems like a bit of a rip off to be quite honest.
