It's so much frustrating to see you guys having problem even with the Fiber Connections, It was never the infrastructure but it is the very working structure of PTCL which is disgruntled and can not be trusted [emoji58]

OMG so tight bends not good plz install cable with out tight bends

in perfect world we dont want any bends in fiber cable for maximum performance please make sure no bends in fiber cable inside your home

Fiber bend radius is always a real issue that we should really need to be concerned about when installing fiber optic cables. Make sure to know the minimum fiber band radius of your installed cables, and do not bend it beyond the specified bend radius. Additionally, if the application needed, you can try to use the bend insensitive fiber

It's too long. Guess I could remove it from their railing type thing and just let it flow freely.

mine are these are they ok
Optical Module Input Power(dBm)-17.5
Optical Module Output Power(dBm)3.0
A little bit on the higher side, but they should be fine. If your connection is stable then no need to have it changed.

I for one am glad to have access to a stable 50mb connection. No other ISP is going to even come close to the coverage PTCL has. The deployed a fiber network in an area with a cantonment board that always has a stick up their rear within a few months.

These issues are not going to be noticed by the average joe. For instance, my issue doesn't cause any problems in downloading, gaming or browsing.

murtaza12 Spoke to Mr. Saeed again. He said he'll send someone over tomorrow to install the newer (larger) housing box. The packet loss should be fixed after that.

Watch them very closely while they're doing it, in my case the morons had tied 2 cable ties very tightly around the patch cord to simulate 'power loss' since it was too high. I removed the cable ties and restarted. Boom, packet loss gone.

The yellow wire shouldn't be looped outside of the splice enclosure. Minimal bends and a straight path to the PON port on the ONT are the best way to reduce any signal issues.

which are good optical module reading input/output and how can i reduce them if mine are on higher end

Read my earlier post. I said yours are slightly higher but no need to get them changed if your connection is stable.

All you need to do is go to the exchange and talk to Saeed sb. Go in the morning after the holidays (Monday). They'll submit an activation request for your number. By evening, your LOID will arrive at the exchange. They'll forward it to one of the boys and he'll activate it for you.

They're already in the field. One was supposed to come upgrade my cable housing today but he got in a minor accident so ab kal aaega.

Shouldn't they activate this on their own? Will they? I suppose I'll pay them a visit on monday. Mind telling me in which room this Saeed sb sits in?

They will, eventually. But to speed it up.. Visit.

When you get into the main building, take the corridor on the left. First or second room on the left. Ask for Saeed sb. They'll tell you.

If you are redirected to Rashid, make sure he sends activation application in front of you. The guy is your typical government servant. He'll say g abi forward kerta hoon.. And next day you'll discover he did nothing whatsoever.

murtaza12 They replaced the thing today. New drop cable too. With the drop cable completely free, I had 28 packet loss on UL and 0 on DL. With the new box installed, its 32 and 92. Better, but.. you know.

UL packet loss isn't a huge concern, but 92 DL packet loss shouldn't be happening. Over time this might go up and you'll have download speed fluctuations.

Did they replace it with the exact same patch cord (green connector on both ends), or a different one?
Also, are your power stats the same?

Same power stats. Same green cord. Well once I shift this whole thing upstairs, I'll leave it exposed.

This is yours?
Yes.

When they had the cable out, I was getting 0 on DL. Guess that's the way to go.
Unfortunately yeah the only way to get 0 packet loss is to leave the cable lying out. Makes the setup look messy, but this is what happens when the installer guys aren't properly trained and don't understand what bending fiber can do.
