Yep I'm starting to notice browsing issues. Are those damned sharks back at it again, chewing up those juicy undersea cables? Or is it just their shitty infra-structure? Who knows.
probably their infrastructure

Its their crap infrastructure and their lack of bandwidth capacity that's why everything goes to shit during peak hours. Can't even view Twitch streams in 720p on this so called "high speed" 20mbps connection while I used to watch Twitch streams at 1080p 60fps with zero buffering on 8mbps DSL connection back in Saudi Arabia.

i contacted Twitch's international networking manager. He said ...we simply do not focus on service with Ptcl in Pakistan as of today. StormFiber seems to have the best performance overall, but it will vary day to day...

Twitch doesn't have servers in Saudi Arabia either but I never faced any issues. The reason is ISPs in Saudi Arabia have good infrastructure and optimal routing to other regions unlike PTCL and other Pakistani ISPs that have crap infrastructure and their route goes all the way to USA just to reach back a server in India, Singapore or other nearby countries. Being the largest ISP PTCL is pathetic with cable cuts every few months and after that their routing gets even more screwed up.

Even Twitch knows that working with PTCL is a pain in the arse.

dude what do you guys watch on twitch ??? o_O

There's a lot of good entertaining streamers on there. A personal favorite of mine is Tyler1.
To watch twitch without there being issues you have to refresh the page every 20 or so minutes, at least from my experience.

That is why i said PTCL and other ISPs because everyone needs to fix their crap routing. Stormfiber is one of the best ISPs but still needs to make some improvements and PTCL being one of the oldest ISPs is still garbage which is a shame. I can't find a single Pakistani ISP that comes close to any fixed broadband ISPs of Saudi Arabia which includes STC (FTTH and DSL services), Mobily (FTTH), Zain (FTTH).

I don't have any problems with streaming on twitch full quality during peak hours or otherwise. Transworld

And, yes we go straight to singapore

C:\Users\dell>tracert live.twitch.tv

So about 80 ms I guess. Post your traceroute here because PTCL also participate at equinix singapore so there shouldn't be any problems really.

Trivia: looks like these servers are living on Justin.TV's infrastructure - I thought the website went offline long ago. Guess it didn't.

Anyway, Hong Kong, it seems, is where PTCL wants to route me. But i've noted that at different times, ISPs (regardless of TW1 or PIE) would route you through different nodes for different websites. No rhyme nor reason.

I told it to conduct a traceroute to live.twitch.com - and it gave me this:

It doesn't matter where it's taking you judging by those results because the routes are both first going to Europe and then to Singapore/HK which perfectly explains why you can't stream on ptcl.

Notice how my route goes directly to the twitch servers after TW's last hop which tells me that TW and twitch have decided to peer together in Singapore.

From what I know, ptcl are also capable of doing that but haven't bothered/don't care and maybe this is why the network manager for twitch said what he did as touched upon in one of the posts above.

Also my route doesn't change depending on the time of the day because it's optimised.

I did a quick geo IP lookup on those IPs: it starts with Greece, moves to Italy, and then moves to the US - and the "destination unreachable" is when it enters Singapore (for both traces).

That said, 200ms isn't too bad. It's not as good as 100ms, but it's not too bad. I was streaming a Fortnite player the other day on PTCL and it was streaming fine - what exactly should I be looking for on these problematic streams?

Destination untraceable isn't relevant. It's there to avoid being ddos'd.

I'm not sure. I don't have ptcl but I'm going to assume it goes to shit during peak times especially because of the number of hops being used to get to the destination. The poster who originally mentioned this maybe can elaborate.

Btw, there is a big difference in 80 ms to 200 odd in terms of being able to stream. 80 is fine and I don't think anything over 150 is recommended. Try streaming at 1080p and see if it works without buffering.
