First, Your line stats are perfectly fine and your sync speeds are okay.

Secondly, Well, That is the hard part. You'd have to do a lot of testing on your own as well as actually getting in contact with someone who'd understand all the "testing" you did. Otherwise, you'll get bamboozled by the ptcl guy every time as he doesn't really want to fix your issue at hand.

I've just checked twitch myself and there is indeed some bs stuff going on. First, I made sure no one was "Downloading a torrent on my internet" as I have DD-WRT on my router and I can monitor any bandwidth that goes through it (Spoiler Alert: My connection was idle). I proceed to open twitch and launching a stream and guess what... It didn't even play for a good 2 minutes and when I monitored my network usage it didn't cross 100kbit/s that is 0.1mbit. It sometimes spiked up to ~1500kbit or 1.5mbit and it was only for like 2-3 seconds allowing me to watch like, 5 seconds of the stream.

There you go. A real-world test that shows something is "Wrong". I could go through all the trouble and set up some "Synthetic" tests with flent and some other tools I may not know of right now. Testing each protocol with different loads. But alas, I don't have all that time or the expertise to go through all those test results even though running my own server or finding one is a whole another hassle. Not to mention the fact that again, I wouldn't get in contact with anyone who would understand the issue.

My advice, Start asking around in your local neighborhood and see if they're getting normal speeds. Ask your local friends to run a test or two. People on PG can start running tests once they make sure no one is using the internet and all other variables that could affect the test are dealt with (2.4ghz wifi sucks, as well as their line, could be bad .-.). After that, Go Tweet @ptclcares and explain with the pictures/videos/proof. I honestly don't think Swearing at them will do any help (They're probably used to it).

In reality, we have no ACTUAL way of just knowing if PTCL is throttling us or not. That is all I can say.

Now, I shall disappear from this forum and go back to lurking as I have exams and my "moodiness" wi be (hopefully) over tomorrow.

P.S
The time I spent to write this... The twitch stream was running in the background and guess what. The stream played for only 20 seconds. It's so bad that it doesn't even load.

P.P.S
I honestly hope all this is just some issue at the backend and it resolves itself in a day or tw... Make it a week or two instead.
ptcl are sharing connections . In the pool where normal isp don’t have more then four people .ptcl has as much as 10 people in same pool .it was told to me by a friend who used to work in ptcl . That’s why everything becomes pathetic .

So this is absurd. Clearly the twitch streaming problem is not limited to me, but it can't be a global QoS issue if you are not affected by it. Are you a VDSL user too, Murtaza12?
@murtaza12 @warpdrive @moosvi94 @player1234 I'm not sure if these user tags work like this.

Can other PTCL users also try Twitch and let us know their results?

Do include your connection type in the results..adsl/vdsl/gpon(lul).

p.s. for what it's worth, twitch was working fine for me at around 4am in the night, however, it's gone to shit again during the day.

Yeah those user tags work fine.

I don't use VDSL, I have GPON.
Just tested 3 different Twitch streams on my laptop and they all load just fine at the highest quality, which is usually 1080p60.

This is tragic, I was kind of hoping its a pipeline issue i.e. ptcl having a broken route to wherever twitch servers are located. But then again, they aren't selectively prioritizing GPON users, given how your friend with a 50mbps GPON package can't stream properly either.

This is some confounding shit. We need someone with a networking background to theorize on this. Do we still have access to that PTCL insider? Does he respond?

I still can't see the image. Regardless, this software isn't really helpful as we're being limited in our download bandwidth as far as i can tell. It's not a ping issue either. I can't figure out how to diagnose it, other than task manager showing a meager 300kbps usage when twitch videos are streaming at a paltry 160p.

its a software called twitch bandwidth test TwitchTest | r1ch.net . it basically shows upload bandwidth and ping towards twitch servers
can u see the image now ?
my ping seems fine for EU servers but i still cant watch streams

Here's a theory. The problem is only limited to some specific IP's/IP Pools. The route could be good on some IP's while being shit on others (A traceroute would help here).
The issue at hand is RANDOM and reaching a conclusion to what the actual problem on this would be... just no.

Maybe it is that PTCL doesn't even have consistent routing set up for their own users. probably the case since I've been seeing people have also been complaining about random latencies. Sometimes latencies to specific servers are low on some IP's while ridiculously being high on others.

I tend to ping google's DNS from time to time and guess what. Sometimes It's <100ms and other times it's >150ms (The change happens after a router reboot which gives me a different IP every time either from the 39.50.xxx.xxx or 182.xxx.xxx.xxx IP pools).Pings to valves Dubai server is pretty much <100ms w/e I've checked it.

Now, Imagine a similar scenario with twitch but say this "Inconsistency" is multiplied by say 10.

I've added to the convo, I'll try to take some traceroutes w/e I can and will post them here as well as the IP pool I was currently on when I took the traceroute and I suggest that everyone here do the same.
Get any and all info you can on the matter and post here.

One thing that I have noticed is that the user experience on my connection does not remain the same at all times. It varies. Obviously, none of us can't be geek enough to keep checking the line stats and the speedtests all the time, most of the rant is based on the frustrating usability experience with different applications. And, most of us are not always running severe data intensive applications, most of the time is consumed by the trivial social media apps and other small stuff like that. Based on that, I think they keep varying the throttle capacity for different times of the day and different days of the week. I am not saying I get blazing fast speeds sometimes, but at least I can perform my simple cyber tasks uninterrupted which doesn't mean that the issue has been resolved in any way. All I can say is that I am highly pissed off and frustrated over this and want a solution :dk:

I have never used Twitch and have no idea as to what this little tool does but in the name of collective good and usefulness (if any), I have performed this test and attaching the screen below. Please let me know what this means to me based on the results and how it works.

I am a bit old-school. Would appreciate if you could give me a step-by-step of what you suggested above, plus a brief explanation for me to understand. Thanks :)

My pings are fine to EU servers too but, I'm getting routed to the Miami server for some reason.

Do a ping and traceroute to live.twitch.tv first. Then, You'll be able to more or less tell from the ping and the last IP/ResolverName which server you're getting routed to.
Additionally, you can manually ping/traceroute the specific twitch server you want by going to twitchstatus.com and scroll down to the ingest servers section.
Pick the server you want to ping/traceroute.

Now for my own tests. First, The TwitchTest Tool.

https://i.imgur.com/PvXAuEm.png

Here are my traceroutes to live.twitch.tv (Gives me the Miami server), live-mia.twitch.tv (Miami Server),live-ber.twitch.tv (Berlin, Germeny Serve and live-ams.twitch.tv (Amsterdam Server).
I picked the Berlin and Amsterdam servers for my other two traceroutes besides the Miami one which I was currently getting routed to seemingly were the ones which gave me the best pings (As can be seen above in the TwitchTest Tool).

:live-twitch.tv:
The server I'm getting routed to by default it seems.

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider

Now, If you see the traceroutes to Amsterdam and Berlin servers... you can see there seems to be some packet loss starting at *khi77.pie.net.pk* and following it 2-3 servers are unreachable (Do not confuse this with the "No response from host" servers as this is simply to be expected since twitch won't allow you to ping or see their internet servers. As said in the guide on their help site on how to traceroute their servers "https://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/1293950-how-to-perform-a-traceroute-to-twitch").

Well, That's all from me for today. I'll be sure to follow up on this tomorrow after maybe some of you post your own traceroutes.

Nope. They have a very valid case. The above video explains it all.

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!

Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

They could've sold the studios instead of closing them, but the nazi bastards just didn't want competition down the road.
