I've got my PTCL DSL Latency type changed from interleaved to FAST path, but it decreased my downstream rate from 9215 to 8191 Kbps.
Now my downloads are considerably slower, as I used to get 1 MBps before on downloads and torrents, but now its between 800-850 KBps at best.
The speedtest also confirms that, as it used to be >8 Mbps, but now it is barely 7 Mbps, a full 1 Mbps slower.

My fibre line is actually really good with 25+ SNR margin on FAST path with excellent pings, and not a single desync or any browsing issues; youtube videos play perfectly without buffering at 1080p 60fps; and I am not getting any Super Frame Errors and HEC Errors either with FAST path; the connection is perfectly fine; the only issue is that download speeds are atleast 150-200 KBps slower than before, which is really bugging me.

I don't understand that even with error correction disabled, the overhead is still huge (over 1 Mb of bandwidth), which is similar to interleaved path; even though my downstream SNR margin is 25+ dB and attenuation is only 3 dB.

It took me like 2 weeks of continuous tweets and DMs to @PTCLCares guy every single day, to get my latency path changed.
Now I've been asking him to bump me up to a 9215 with FAST path; but he doesn't understand my query, he just replies with "Enjoy the services, your latency type is already changed to FAST path".

Is it even possible to get a 9215 line profile with FAST path; or is that only available with interleaved latency?
Can I go back to 9215 with interleaved? or am I stuck with the slower 8191, even if I do get reverted to interleaved;:( as I have seen that many people are also getting the slower 8096 or 8191 as their default interleaved profile.

What exactly should I ask @PTCLCares without nagging him any more, so that he understands this issue, and not screw up my connection!
I will be very grateful for any feedback and/or suggestions from you guys.

:help:

@StrikerX @Ibbu Bhai @murtaza12 @maz9009
If you switch back to interleaved, you will PROBABLY be reverted to 9215 kbps.
Just remember, it's PTCL we're talking about. They might just 'forget'.

If you do switch back and your line profile stays at 8191, keep filing complaints on the phone and on twitter and they'll eventually change it back.

And AFAIK according to StrikerX, you can't have 9215 with a FAST data path.

Thanks @murtaza12

I DM'd PTCLCares to change my line back to interleaved and got his reply "Inconvenience is regretted. I am working on this issue and an early resolution will be ensured".

Lets see what happens.

That's his typical copy paste reply. He isn't going to do anything now, unless you message him at least 3 times a day.

That's how I got my line upgraded to 12 Mbps. They said 48 hours, it ended up taking 5 days because the Twitter guy kept sending the same reply and wasn't doing anything. I started messaging him every hour and after the last message was full of insults, within 45 minutes, the line profile was increased.

Yeah.
Exactly. I've DM'd him like 10 times since Thursday to revert my line back to 9215, but I'm getting the same generic copy paste bs reply.

From Monday, definitely, I am going to use insults too.

Guys I'm getting a lot of packet loss. Can someone recommend what settings I should change to maybe fix it. My ping is fine and speed is also fine...

Packet loss is almost 10% which is a lot for games :/

Aoa everyone I have a 4mb connection. I wanted to know about FAST path does that really decrease ping and how much my download/upload will be decreased if i switch to fast path I get good stats on adsl2+ with slightly increased upload speeds but i use g.dmt because on adsl2+ i get around 56-65 ping on pgl cod 4 servers whereas on g.dmt it is surprisingly ~40. I also play battlefield 3 and dota sometimes and my pings are very bad should i change to fast path or not ? My current line stats are attached

Switching to FAST path will definitely improve the pings, but only try it if your line is in perfect condition, otherwise your modem will be desyncing all the time.

Also your downstream rate is going to decrease to 4096 Kbps on FAST path, and you will have to sacrifice some download speed, as maximum possible IDM download speed that you can get after is around 430 KBps.

I replaced the entire wire from the gate to the dabbi inside. The lineman brought a new dabbi and splitter too.

The SNR before cable replacement was 11.0 dB, the SNR is now 10.1 dB after the replacement. Ba dum tssssssss.
However, I think the D-Link modem provided by PTCL is just plain shit.

So, I got a Wired only TPLink 8840T DSL modem, the SNR on that is 17.2 dB, attenuation is way lower as well and I've set it up in bridge mode to stop double NAT issues.

So far so good, will let you know if the internet 'feels' any different.

Thanks bro for your reply I am fine with 430kbps speed and I have dm ptclcares to shift to fast now if he does how to know if i am on fast or interleave

Maximum upload speed that you can get is 1-1.2 Mbps (maybe theoretically max 1.4) without Annex M; whether you have 1Mbps or 24Mbps ADSL.
You can get faster upload speeds on VDSL though.

But in your speedtest result, the actual issue is the download speed, which is way lower, it should be ~7Mbps.

If you can attach a screenshot of your current line stats, maybe the issue can be further identified.

Just look into your ADSL line stats (like the screenshot that you posted earlier), and after shifting to FAST path;

D (interleaver depth): shows 1 (for both downstream and upstream)

Delay (msec): shows 0 (for both downstream and upstream)

So until a few days ago my connection was fine(except the high pings due to maintenance on the underwate sea cable) with the router page looking like this:

But unfortunately for no reason I can understand except perhaps the storm that came around a week ago since then my stats look like this:

Facing a lot of disconnections now and getting tired of this. If it's not one thing it's another. I complained a few days ago and they said it would be fixed and it was fine for one day with no disconnections(at least when I was awake) but now it's back to randomly disconnecting again. Should I complain again or what?

Storm = Line fucked.

Check for moisture or rust on the wire outside your gate.
File a complaint for noisy telephone line and bad line paramaters.

Your SNR is really low.

Your stats were pretty good before the storm btw.

The wire is going over and under some weird places, I doubt I can pinpoint the cause. Guess I'll have to go to the exchange as that is the only way things get done.

Hey guys I am having a disconnection problem, the net frequently disconnects. All line stats are in the good/acceptable range but I find that the upstream SNR tends to take a nosedive from 7-9 db all the way to 1-3 db. I just recently had a new line installed. Any idea what might be causing this. BTW I'm on 4Mb
