I've asked for an ETA but haven't gotten a response as yet. If you can afford a 1-month subscription then sure go ahead but be thorough when getting a VPN and make sure it gets decent pings on PTCL.

So i got a new single wire connection all the way from the ONU to my modem ; no joints involved. Converted to 4mb aswell. Havent tried online but will try and post my experience here. I know it wont be much gr8 but still the disconnections should not be there nemore. Applied for static IP aswell.
The one thing i noticed that theres an underground black wire just outside my home ; its looks just the same like the wire that supplies the main DP (ONU)from which they then supply the copper wires to home.
Could this b the fiber optic wire and it might be possible for me to to get a fiberoptic connection ... heres the pic of that wire. I hope y people can c this

It's definitely thicker than the copper bullshit that goes to the splitter. Can't say for sure if it's fiber optic. I had the wire from the ONU to my gate replaced a few months ago as well.
Thank god disconnections and noise in the phone line have stopped, however pings and upload speed still suck.

As you can see here, black cable from ONU connects to the extremely crap quality copper cable that goes inside the house.
They're such assholes that they didn't even install a DP Box even though every other house on my street has one. The lineman just said go buy it yourself.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. This doesn't necessarily mean you can get Fiber GPON connection. You'll have to inquire about that by personally going to the exchange and asking a manager.

Yup i ve been getting very high pings almost double. everything on my end is alright. so i did 3 to 4 trace routes. the results had one thing consistent. see below.

Ping increases rapidly to when it hits EU from KHI.(see 8th and 9th hop.) this used to be around 180ms. I think theres a problem with KHI.

Can anyone else confirm the same or otherwise. it would really help

Like I said before but let me repeat PTCL's high pings to Valve's Luxembourg servers is not a PTCL issue and is unrelated to PTCL's high ping (or rather shit-show) towards other EU networks. I have had direct correspondence with Valve on this and was informed 2 weeks back about the problem.

Why do I have direct correspondence with them? If you don't know already then I (with help from a friend) got direct peering established between Valve and PTCL in Singapore and EUW some years back.

What's the issue that is causing the high ping? Let me just quote Valve on this:


Why are you getting lower ping with a VPN? Simply because the VPN server that you're connecting to has good ping to PTCL and the VPN server has good peering to Valve EUW. PTCL's path to Valve EUW was through AMS-IX because PTCL has a PoP there. So when Valve's AMS-IX links are back up then pings will be back to normal.

In the meantime, I asked for an alternate arrangement to be made but that hasn't happened yet and I don't have the time these days to pursue it like I used to before.

p.s Don't take this the wrong way but I felt some clarity was needed.

Same here. Extremely slow downloads and sky high pings.

Slow downloads since yesterday here in Sindh too. Net was working fine and now suddenly it went to shit =/
