But but.. Naya Pakistan!

I'm also getting tired of this shit but unlike you, I don't have any alternative. I'm thinking about going to the exchange and asking for the person who marks complaints as 'solved' and then beat him up.

I face random disconnections. I have complained several times, and every time I start getting calls from 1218 that my complain has been resolved. I started getting half a dozen calls per day and I pressed 2 every time. Not a single person showed up to check my line here.
Why not try the termination threat?
Say you want to disconnect your PTCL line for good, maybe their moods will suddenly change.

You have GPON, or are you on copper?

Man, after reading these stories, I wonder if this is a Bahria phase-specific issue, or whether it's across all 9 phases of Bahria.

It depends. Does Phase 7/8 have its own separate exchange or is it the same one that's in Phase 4?

If it's the Phase 4 one, I can only wish you good luck when dealing with those degenerate scumbags.

PTCL is just so pathetic. Random disconnections, high pings due to garbage routing and crap customer support. I miss my GPON connection back in Saudi Arabia. They gave me free static IP and optimized routing to international servers for that IP. I used it for 1 year and a half before moving here and there was literally zero downtime. Not even exaggerating it was pretty stable. It had amazing pings to EU, US and even Asian servers which are close to Pakistan but PTCL still has high pings to those servers its so pathetic. Sure it was a bit expensive but it was worth every riyal and i got 66% discount for the first year. My father still uses it as he lives there and i consider him pretty lucky lol.

The ping to my local gateway hovers around 100 ms during night when a trace route is done. This clearly indicates that servers are overloaded and because of this pings are almost doubled.

I think phase 4.

But maybe - just maybe - the actual exchange is in the other phase but the staff is from phase 4?

* Fingers crossed*

I've applied for termination of my PTCL FTTH line. It was becoming increasingly frustrating to deal with with the high latency, useless customer support and constant disconnections.

Read below for story time:

Spoiler: show

I went to the exchange where I was told to visit the 'Business Managers' office and submit my piece of shit ONT along with a paid bill. Bill was just paid 2 days ago, and the connection hasn't been used since then since my ONT was unplugged. I went to his office where he desperately asked me to keep my connection and how the exchange had to upgrade it's whole setup and install expensive equipment and infrastructure in my area to make it GPON ready.

Let me just quickly plug in here by saying, in my many complaints to PTA, I never once asked for GPON, fully knowing that they'd never go for that due to the high costs, I repeatedly asked for VDSL since I wanted a 20+ Mbps package which wasn't possible on my ADSL line.

I told him how many complaints I had submitted in the past 2 months and I mentioned that every single time I submitted it, it would automatically be 'closed' after 2 days. However the disconnections or random periods of slow browsing and 3 Mbps download speed would still happen quite often.

I had complained at 1218 and PTCLCares on Twitter since
A) My initial contact at the exchange, Abu Bakar had resigned from PTCL, probably because he couldn't stand the lazy 'nobody gives a fuck' attitude at the exchange. Good on him.

B) The numbers given to me by the contractor who installed FTTH in my area were Hassan (Abu Bakars replacement) and Aadil, another guy working on GPON and... *drum roll pls* the Business Manager I was talking to. I had his number and had asked him many times to help, which he did not. All of them of course were 110% useless at their jobs, either never present at the exchange, or not answering the phone calls. So I couldn't get the problem rectified quickly. Furthermore, nobody ever answers the landline numbers of the exchange that I have so there's that as well.

This guy then says, while raising his voice, "YOU SHOULD HAVE CALLED ME" and proceeds to write his phone number on a piece of paper to give to me.
I showed him his contact listed in my phone, and said I've tried calling / texting before, but no one actually bothered to do anything.

He then says he'll send someone to my house to check on my connection, I said first of all that can't happen because my ONT is literally lying right in front of you, on my desk, and secondly, the ONE time that they did send someone to check my connection, he just came inside to do a speedtest, and then left.

Then it eventually got to the point where he asks me what ISP I got instead of PTCL. I said Transworld, and his smart ass assistant behind him says 'Nayatel aur Transworld aik hi cheez hai', after which the guy realised Nayatel has ridiculous data caps of 100 GB on their packages so he starts to take me on a guilt trip saying that 'on our line your monthly usage was 400, sometimes 500 GB', to which I asked 'Am I not entitled to use that much?'
They're the ones who removed the 300 GB limit in the first place, if I pay 7k per month for their shitty ass service, I am going to use 500 GB a month and there's nothing they can do about it.
After that I told him Transworld doesn't have data caps either and he just kept quiet.

Finally he gave up and said you want me to close it then? YES PLEASE.

I did also notice a stack of 5-6 more Alcatel Lucent ONTs (exactly the same as the one I had), in the back, behind his desk, I can only presume they're from other residents in Phase 1 who applied for termination of GPON due to the declining quality of service in the last few weeks. I'm happy to have added one more ONT to that stack.

Story time ends here. Glad I won't have to deal with these morons ever again.

hahahha :D :D same thing happened with me i got call from exchange manager and he said "aap ka data usage bohat ziada hai ghar main ap kay kitnay log internet use krtay hain app zaroor internet share krty hain neighbours kay sath itna data to koe bhe use nae krta" and my data usage was like 150 200gb and i received this call after complaining to PTA

They know I have no alternative. No other providers available here.

Same story here bud. living on 1mb internet for the past 3 months because of some fault that these peanut brain mofo's can't fix.
Upon going to the exchange the guy sitting in the office constantly kept saying "Bhai 10mb lagwaya howa hai tou masla hoga na... 4mb karwa lai net sahi hojaye ga" Like when my net got fucked I was on 4mb.

Anyways, Going into the next room the two people sitting there also said the same thing after my friend and I were talking about my 10mb package and why I had/needed it. Regardless after 40 minutes, he kept trying to call someone who wouldn't pick up and then I just told him to switch me to 4mb now and then after he did make an excuse about how it takes up to 30 minutes to take effect hence why your line is still shit.
As I went with a friend I couldn't stay there anymore.

I did many complaints, Emailed ptcl and pta MANY TIMES! No response from either of them. Only ptcl responded with computerized responses and once responded with "You're net is working fine. Thank you.". Got a call a few days ago about the email I sent 3 months ago and after some talking told me that it would get fixed... Nothing so far.

There is this cable net you can check out. They reside in the Officer Colony Market (Motor Inn is the shop name. Cable TV guys) and claim that they have backend fiber from word call. Said he will install via a CAT6 ethernet cable and if you already have a tp-link router on hand the only installation charges will be for the cable itself. 8mb for 3250rs (Tax included) and 4mb for 2000rs (Tax Included) when I asked him about the upload he said you'll get around 5-6mb upload. I asked about this from their office before eid and he told me that I could check everything before getting it installed (Pings, Speed etc). But since I have to convince my parents first who probably won't be convinced... I didn't go back to checking their internet.

You can check it out and maybe negotiate 10mb up/down for 3K rs (Since they probably don't have many customers right now they'll probably give in)

I will definitely check it out. Though I doubt they have any fiber backend. I mean we do have fiber in Wah (WEC's internet is through fiber, and maybe CIIT too) but I doubt it comes this far in.

Exactly what my doubts were about. But I can't really go to them asking to check their net to confirm everything before wanting to install when IDEK if I'll even be able to get it installed. Just hop on over there do some traceroutes and stuff and please report back here... Thanks. ^_^

A while back there was some digging near the POF Hotel. (Once for some gas lines and the other time it seemed that it was PTCL.) Upon asking around and asking the lineman I was told that POF Hotel got PTCL Fiber.

So, it's not like it's impossible. Since they don't have any customers (1-2 at most maybe?) getting the advertised speeds won't be much of an issue and if an issue does come up it won't be like their repair guys will be too busy to come by in a jiffy. (If they don't the office is like walking distance, So a personal 1on1 won't be an issue.)

All in all, it might be worth it to get this cable net until ptcl gets their shit together and gets VDSL/GPON here like they keep saying to me.

You can expect GPON here in Wah within 2-3 months so it should be much better than what it is now. I hope they don't take longer than this.

I sure hope it takes 2 months at most.

I have been living on 1mb internet for the past 3 months already... And in 2-3 months GPON will be here sure but it'll be more like ~4 months before I'd be able to get my network up and running smoothly. Sooo yeah.

Switching to this cable net for 4-5 months doesn't seem that bad in comparison and if it also turns out to bad then It would be back to ptcl (I would have had to pay for GPON/VDSL anyways so it's not like staying on ptcl will net me either one of those upgrades for free).

As far as performance is concern their cable net is very stable and no disconnections at all.

mere cousin kaay friend naay lagaya hai jo lane no 18 basti mein rehta hai iss nay bataya tha kay iss nay 4mb dsl lagwaya hai but speed 5mb ki ati hai really fast and no disconnection guaranteed.

I sure hope it takes 2 months at most.

Well, That is one thing off my plate that I'd have to worry about.

What about the upload? And what about the routing to game servers? (If you ever get to talk with the guy ask him if he can test these two things... Would really appreciate it)

And my last concern is one that I can't wrap my head around. How did they get fiber to their office without me noticing any work going on (I visit my colony market multiple times every day) and secondly the max range of CAT6 Ethernet is 100meter's per spec... how did they provide your cousin's friend internet all the way from here via Ethernet Cat6. Can you as him about if he has any "wireless" dish or something of sorts set up on his roof or anywhere in between? I saw these wireless dishes on their Facebook page while doing some quick searches.

If the upload and latency to the game servers I play on are great... I'll get it. The last concern is just more of me being curious .-.

yes they are using wireless dish and they also came to my home and did a survey maybe today they will come to install their setup.

jahan tak gaming ki baat hai it should be better bcoz they are using worldcall infrastructure and thier packages(check worldcall internet packages).

jahan tak fiber ki baat hai they are using poles.

meri kafi detailme baat hoi hai iss larkay(adnan) ka number bhi hai agr chaiye tou mein PM kar doon ga

Details of the installation after tests please @_@

well, it should be better but... Wireless >~>

So it's just a Dish and then a CAT6 to your router?

Is fiber available now? Start to End Fibre hi hogi na?

Didn't they have their own packages? I got their pamphlet from the office and it said 3250rs for 8mb.

Anyways. Do report back some traceroutes and stuff after you get your connection installed.]
