i contacted ptcl helpline 1218 and they told me that you have to pay only once and then if device gets faulty,it will be replaced and you have to give old device to ptcl and it is mentioned on their site too in FAQS. You will be provided free modem till you use our services. One time Installation charges of Rs.1,500 will be charge from 2 Mbps and above

Upstream/Upload SNR Margin is very low but others are good. SNR Margin above 25-30 are good and Line attenuation below 10 is good. Thats what I have heard.

I'm having disconnections all the time.
I've tried 3 different modems as well. Tried getting the lineman to fix the pair outside my gate. Complained to PTCLCares on Twitter. No luck.

What the f*kc is PTCL doing to all the public trackers? Even the semi-private ones are being throttled. One burst upto 100 or 150 (instead of 400KB/s), then back to ZERO. Its getting so annoying now.

EDIT: Rebooted the Modem. And they started working. :S :fp2:

Well same thing happens to me couple of months back, my internet light was not flickering rather stable so i called helpline, the tech guy change my password and problem solved.

Like I said Upstream SNR is low. If it's below 7-8db you will face frequent disconnections.

EDIT:-
There is one thing you can try. If you aren't using 8 or 10mbps package then have your port speed set to your connection speed i.e 4mbps or 6mbps. That "should" improve the SNR margins and possibly fix the disconnections.
