The detection of 850 seems like a glitch, since the frequency range it's showing actually belongs to Telenor for their Band 5 LTE.

Can you remove the Jazz SIM and put Zong in SIM slot 1, reboot the phone and then run NetMonster again?

So I rooted my device and Network signal guru app is showing only 2 way CA with 20 MHz band 3 and 10 MHz band 1.

So finally Zong has launched 4G+ services in Faisalabad. The strange thing is Net Monster App is showing 3 way CA instead of 2 way CA. I believe this is an app error because the 3rd band it showing along with 1800+2100 is 850 MHz which Zong does not even have. Bandwidth of 1800 and 2100 MHz is 20 and 10 MHz subsequently. Which means Zong has already got extra spectrum from PTA against faulty 900 MHz spectrum. God knows how PTA is treating Zong's spectrum.

And the 3xCA at my end is 1800+2100+1800 - so the 850Mhz was definitely a glitch. 3xCA doesn't happen everywhere though.

I know Zong does use 900Mhz in some places - rare, but they do. It's mostly 1800Mhz 2G (where data doesn't work anyway).

Since you're rooted, can you confirm if I'm reading it correctly that they're using 256QAM for 1800Mhz? Can you compare the screenshots for Zong and Jazz? And can you try measuring the speeds on Zong with 2100Mhz disabled (so that the phone doesn't aggregate with another band)? Jazz works fine most of the time w/o intraband aggregation but sometimes, its speeds aren't fast.

Sadly it looks like the other two carriers aren't interested in improving their LTE at all.

Don't ask. very poor. But I believe Zong is still in process to upgrade cell sites to 4G+ because only half of the city is on 4G+ right now. once upgration done, than Zong will focus on optimization of the network. Right now I am gettin better speed on 4G (at my office) than on 4G+ (at my home)

Since I am in Office where Zong has not upgraded its network to 4G+ so I can check in the evening when I will return back to home. And Yes I took above screenshot when Background data activity was being performed and phone was connected to CA. And Yes it was 256 QAM at that time, but when data activity was not being performed it kept switching between 16 and 64 QAM. Now in my office where CA is not yet made available by Zong and Jazz it peaks to 64 QAM by both.

Talking about other two operators. Well, there main problem is spectrum. Ufone is at a stage right now where they are barely carrying their own weight and just wait and watch how far they can go. Telenor on the other hand played two bad strokes which handed them a defeat were going for only 5 MHz in 2100 MHz for 3G and than rushing for useless 850 MHz for 4G. they further messed it by spliting it between 3G and 4G. Now at the the times when Zong and Jazz are going for 30 and 25 MHz for 4G+, there CA 4G stands at 8 MHz. In my opinion the only survivor of Telenor and Ufone is in merger of both companies. Together they will have enough spectrum and Resources to compete with Jazz and Zong. And IF one of the leading two Companies managed to capture (buy) any of them, the other will die.

All high end phones, and most mid-range phones released in the past year or two support it as well.

Also, even if the phone doesn't support 3xCA, it can still favour one band over the other in some cases. So it may switch between B3+B8 and B3+B1 in a 2xCA config instead of utilising all 3 bands.

What I know is that off-network speeds in Jazz are much slower than a speed test to their own server.

Since the morning (8.45AM), speeds to their home server were 90+Mbps but on PTCL or Nayatel or anywhere else, they range between 5Mbps and 10Mbps.

Of course they're not upgrading their network, that would be ludicrous. They have to make sure their money is well spent and KPIs and yada yada yada... While boasting about the fastest 4G in the market.

I don't know what Jazz is doing. Still their 4G+ is limited to selected areas of twin cities when Zong is deploying 4G+ day and night in all cities. They tested VoLTE 4 years ago and still no progress made on on that point. And there 4G speed is only limited to Jazz server in Ookla app, on other servers, it become miserable. And Jazz is also very slow in browsing wesbite and youtube videos as compare to Zong.

Yes! This is what I've noticed as well. I have no idea what's going on.

Edit: using a VPN doesn't help either. Any traffic escaping Mobilink's network is being slowed down - it shows a nice initial burst, but then stabilizes to anywhere between 5Mbps and 10Mbps. And initially, I thought I was the only one but you're also facing this. And it's not that they're throttling my consumption since my billing date reset on the 8th.

Edit 2: the Play Store was giving me u throttled speeds... And so we're a few speed tests. Not sure what's going on - can others check?
