No in Faisalabad. Only Zong and Telenor have CA. Zong has best speed due to CA followed by Jazz. Ufone and Telenor are no where near to them but still Ufone 4G has better speed than Telenor where it is available. Can others confirm if Mobilink has carrier aggregation in other cities (apart from Islamabad/Pindi)?
Well Companies like Zong/Jazz/PTCL get devices in bulk therefore different vendors whoever offer the low cost, Zong previously offered Huawei devices initial models were - 320 and had antenna ports but they got cracked and were easily unlockable therefore model was changed the later came without antenna ports. Now zong is offering some unknown device probably ZTE just like Jazz, these new devices just offer Pakistani bands but has good battery life as compared to previous Huawei devices that has small battery but much better overall functions.Hello, I need some understanding on these 4G/LTE devices from Zong, Jazz and the likes.
Also where can I get the Bolt Ultra router from Zong? And why is the staff at the franchise/service centers encouraging to get the cloud instead?
- I've a PTCL CharJi cloud (ZTE device), does PTCL sell others as well? I got it because it's cheaper for me (150GB/Rs. 1500), and I don't mind the speed.
- I also needed a USB dongle as well as charging the CharJi quickly became a pain the the rear end, so I got the Jazz LTE device, now this one is from some unknown company and my TPLink router with the 4G doesn't recognize it whereas when I plug my brother's Zong dongle from Huawei then it worked!
- I went ahead and bought a Zong dongle, it's also from Huawei but it's the model number like XXX-320 but upon examination it turned out my brother's Zong device ends with -153, what's the deal here?
This is some excellent insight. So I just went ahead to check the antenna ports on my -320, and to my surprise, mine doesn't have it or the SD card slot but my brother's -153 has both. Also as telenor operate 4g on 850Mhz (Band 5) most of the devices except the ones offered by Telenor themself dosnt work as they dont support band 5, however older devices with - 320 does and are rare now because 1. they offer antenna ports 2. very wide band coverage. Just go to ebay/aliexpress and search for 4d devices/modem and you will see plenty of Zong/Jazz devices being sold there.
Why plug dongle in TPlink router when it has wifi just pop it in some old charger and it will work. Or just unlock that - 320 zong dongle and it will work with any sim available in Pakistan. PTCL has probably 10 different Charji routers introduced over years. And as for Bolt router same story previously Jazz/Zond had Huawei routers but now probably have ZTE, search OLX you will find plenty on sale.
As far as I remember Zong only has -153 model as wingle -320 might be newer or older you can determine this by logo blue=old, Green = new, I have cloud devices and the E5573-320 (old blue logo) is the one with antenna ports look at pics, generally these portable devices can connect 8-10 devices. This is some excellent insight. The reason why I plug the device into the router is because then I access the internet using router and all of its features. If more devices directly connect to the dongle itself then it gets warm quickly.
Also, the -320 I have supports 16 devices simultaneously, while the more feature rich -153 only 10? The JAZZ one I have also supports 10 devices but their website state 12... Why these companies keep selling different models as one product!
I've these 3 devices (the last one on the extreme right is of my brother's -153):As far as I remember Zong only has -153 model as wingle -320 might be newer or older you can determine this by logo blue=old, Green = new, I have cloud devices and the E5573-320 (old blue logo) is the one with antenna ports look at pics, generally these portable devices can connect 8-10 devices.
The reason for selling different devices is the same whoever sells them cheaper in bulk Zong first mifi device was E5573-320 (blue logo) 1. Wide band coverage (tlnr band 5 aswell) 2. 5ghz wifi 3. Antenna ports while the later model -322 have no 5ghz no antenna ports and no 850mhz. Zong has also launched some fiberhome and ZTE devices but were not popular and were phased out, recently they launched some ZTE device (same as Jazz) with no features but very good battery Jazz on the other hand has launched some alcatel device.
Like the wingle you have E8372h has 5/6 different versions for different regions of the world with different band coverage and features.
E8372h-153
E8372h-607
E8372h-608
E8372h-320

Perhaps Zong has changed wingle model aswell like the mifi model and this -320 in wingle is the latest version unlike the mifi version that was the first ever device launched by Zong hence oldest. Still these huawei devices are easily unlockable therefore famous in market and sells for a premium price as I said Zong and telenor devices are being sold as unlocked on ebay and aliexpress how is a total different story.I've these 3 devices (the last one on the extreme right is of my brother's -153):
My requirement is I want a USB LTE device eith microSD slot and which is easily recognized by my TPLink router as well. The Jazz has a microSD card slot but isn't recognized by my router which is more important for me. Also, could you please tell me why do people unlock these devices in the first place? The Zong devices have become rare these days.Perhaps Zong has changed wingle model aswell like the mifi model and this -320 in wingle is the latest version unlike the mifi version that was the first ever device launched by Zong hence oldest. Now what is your actual requirement and why so many devices are needed ? Any portable wingle/mifi will not support more then 10 simultaneous connections and ones available in Pak are all CAT 4 devices means 150DL/50Up and dosnt support CA from any network. I have ditched Zong as they limit speeds plus during peak time the service becomes s**t.
These devices actual value is quite high but when sold to carriers they are locked with specific firmware customized for that network and only specific sims will work.My requirement is I want a USB LTE device eith microSD slot and which is easily recognized by my TPLink router as well. Unfortunately that wasn't an option for me for two reasons: 1) I've OCD so even minor wear and tear of a used item bothers me :/. 2) His device is allotted to him by his company.Give your wingle to your brother get his -153 and use it, unlock it if need to use some other network. I prefer Jazz it has better speed and more data
So me being me, I went ahead and bought the device I found the other day which stated "2G fallback option available", and turns out it was indeed the -153 model, meaning the box which have this feature listed do come with wide range of band support! These devices actual value is quite high but when sold to carriers they are locked with specific firmware customized for that network and only specific sims will work.
I see, so this is why I see one Zong SIM associated with another device working perfectly fine on a Bolt Ultra router. I'll try to use the PTCL SIM card and see if that works without unlocking on the -153, because I find the Karachi package significantly cheap comparatively (150GB at 1.5k), and the remaining volume can be carried over to the next month as well like the Ufone Super Card.Zong has 3 type of sims, 1. Nomal voice sim 2. MBB sim (comes with device) 3. Data sim, reason older devices were popular because all 3 types of sims used to work but on newer ones voice and data dosnt work even after unlocked zong fixed the imeis. However after unlocking these devices can be used for other network sims. Old zong/telenor devices after unlocked can run any sim network/type therefore very rare.
PTCL Charji will not work in any Mobile company device. PTCL is using Band 2 which is not supported by any other LTE device. And new PTCl charjio devices are not unlockable.Unfortunately that wasn't an option for me for two reasons: 1) I've OCD so even minor wear and tear of a used item bothers me :/. 2) His device is allotted to him by his company.

So you have bought 3 devices probably worth 6k just for testing . brother -153 supports following bandsSo me being me, I went ahead and bought the device I found the other day which stated "2G fallback option available", and turns out it was indeed the -153 model, meaning the box which have this feature listed do come with wide range of band support!
Yes sadly. :/So you have bought 3 devices probably worth 6k just for testing .
Yes that's true, though I don't mind sticking to the Jazz or Zong, but the thing with these two is the volume... 60GBs doesn't cut it most of the time, and high volumes are crazy expensive. One thing I've noticed with Jazz is that they give 30GBs for 1am-1pm and then 30GBs for other times, this doesn't suit my usage, and Zong is some times miss and super hit other times.I dont understand are you planning to use Charji sim on these wingles ?? it simply wont work as @zafarabbasrizvi said above. All this time I was under impression that you wanted to shift to Zong/Jazz.
Well bad news then, Charji not going to work in any of the devices you have except ZTE charji cloud. I use Jazz (official allowed 1500) but I charge 2000 package 50/100gb, enough for me and Jazz data is carried over if recharged before expiry with exact same package.Yes sadly. :/

Oh the carry over to the next month is also possible on Jazz? Nice. Which package do you suggest I use, other than that mid night BS.Well bad news then, Charji not going to work in any of the devices you have except ZTE charji cloud. Totally depends on your usage and budget, I use Jazz Rs2000 package with 100gb (50 1AM-1PM) and due to carry forward I have 250gb data still left, probably Zong has started to carry forward aswell but I cant confirm that as not uaing Zong since quite a time.Oh the carry over to the next month is also possible on Jazz?
