Yes that's what he said on the helpline that its enabled for specific numbers... But they will soon start the official launch.. Thats what helpline ppl said... Now when I went to Mobilink office, they asked me if u r a employee or got a msg, i said no but he said its okay i can give you 4G sim when its launch, u can use it.. It was nearly closing time so i couldnt speak to them thoroughly.. I will visit them tomorrow again.. I have paid for the replacement so it should work whatsoever...

My contact in Mobilink told me some days back that they were going to start trials soon (this was on Monday) amongst the employees. Maybe that's why specific numbers have the ability to use 4G whilst the rest don't?
But if you say that Mobilink says customers can begin using 4G in a few days, then I'm not sure what's going on.
And if that ProPakistani screenshot is anything to go by, maybe it's not worth it? I mean - you get similar speeds on 3G too! I don't know how their back haul has been configured (I.we. Whether they're going through Warid, or have their own arrangement) given that Mobilink 4G and Warid 4g have the same signal strength, similar to Warid 3g and Mobilink 3g.
I mean - if this is some pseudo-roaming, I wonder how it'll pan out.
Also, a quick reminder that Zong had their speeds increased gradually, and not from day one. They were hovering around 10mbps the day I bought their 4G SIM (back when they launched it). Maybe Mobilink will undergo a similar phase?
Also, I'm really eager to know how they're going to manage the spectrum allocation (they can't just use each other's exact frequencies for two different services - they'll have to enable some roaming thing, or use adjoining frequencies so that overlaps don't exist) and what'll happen in the end is anybody's guess, because as I see it:
2100Mhz: 10Mhz (shared with Warid 3g)
1800Mhz: 6 (Mobilink 2g) +8.8 (Warid 2g/3g) = 14.8Mhz available.
Given that the 6Mhz is not tech-neutral and assuming Mobilink is using all of it, they'll have to add additional 4G towers to overcome any potential spectrum shortage once all Warid customers are shifted onto Mobilink's network.
But if they shift all Warid customers, then what's the point of keeping 410 07 in the airwaves? But also, if they shift Warid, then they'll have a little more of that 8.8Mhz spectrum available for use (they say Warid is using 5Mhz, and there's no official word on this either, so the remaining 3.8Mhz - used for their voice - will be spared since nobody would be on 410 07).
Because I'm not a radio engineer, my comprehension skills stop here.
Also, I'm not sure why, but I think all Warid customers will be moved over to Mobilink, or 410 07 will have some sharing or something going on...because they really can't use the same frequencies in the same cluster, so they'll have to use adjoining frequencies for the different MNC MCC, in a given cluster, to avoid interference. Some spectrum changes just might take place here.
As I said, I'm going to stop here since this is above my pay grade.
