I remember that 3G was capped to 8 Mbps back when Jazz only had 3G for prepaid connections, and it was uncapped for postpaid lines.
I thought the cap was removed after the Warid merger and LTE network upgrade, but no matter how good the signal strength is, or whether or not I have direct line of sight with the tower, speed tests on prepaid 3G will not cross 8-8.5 Mbps. Don't have any postpaid connections anymore, so can't confirm if it's uncapped on that, but if they're capping all prepaid numbers (which there are a lot more of), then they should just halve the 2100 MHz 3G spectrum at this point.
8 Mbps is easily possible with 5 MHz. Telenor can manage it, so these guys should be able to as well.
A better CA combination for Jazz would be 15 MHz B3 + 5 MHz B1.
Having 3 MHz B8 hasn't helped much, not even in Islamabad. Coverage feels exactly the same indoors. I visited the ITP Office in F8 before 900 MHz was enabled, and indoor coverage was 2 bars with almost unusable data. I visited again just a few days ago, and ServiceMode did show my phone was connected to 900 MHz this time, but there was 0 impact on coverage and speed.
Also I did complain about indoor coverage fluctuating for both 3G and 4G, and 4G speeds in Bahria on the 25th, and I got a call in the evening yesterday from someone at Jazz. He wanted to confirm my exact location and asked if the issue is happening on all devices and whether it happens during some parts of the day, or 24/7, so I explained all that and he said normally it takes 5 working days for investigation, but I'll forward your complaint on 'priority' (sounds like PTCL lol) to the Jazz technical team who will give you a call back in the coming week.
Fingers crossed that they actually do something this time. I had major PTCL downtime the other day, and Jazz's 4G was as good as having no internet at all.
