Nobody's willing to share another 3g speed test of Telenor post-4g launch?

I've been doing some budget calculations - apparently, my existing plan on Zong means I pay a minimum of 772 rupees (approx), with 100 minutes, 300 texts, and 4GB data.

If I were to opt for Mobilink, I'd only have to pay about 140 extra for 20 extra minutes and 1gb extra data. I'm not sure if my mind is being rational, because for me, coverage is important on the roads (e g. Motorways, highways) and I don't want 3g falling back to 2g the instant I step out of the city limits.

Zong doesn't. But when Zong does, you can forget about their 2g service lol.

Damnit! I can't even take another SIM out and test it cause I've already exhausted my limit (family members, local and international, and my dad whose fingerprints aren't in NADRA's database for some unknown reasons, and biometric verification fails for him).

Third world problems!

I've generally been content with Mobilink, but - you don't get Zong signals in your room, whilst I don't get many operators signals in my room ;)

That said, I have this weird OCD to conduct network searches and measure the dB reading in random places. I'm in Islamabad Club, and whilst Zong has 3G here, Mobilink falls back on EDGE (haven't checked it today, but this was the case a few weeks back).

In fact, let me try and check!

Edit: yep. It's still weak. I think their site is placed in another angle. The room I tested in was just outside their hi-tea and library (the corridor near the exit), and the signals are weaker for Mobilink.

Point proved: their strengths may vary in terms of coverage, but it's the majority of the areas which I'm interested in. I could dig up other black holes as well, but that's not the point. The point is - how is their coverage on a grander scheme of things? Cause Zong's is very good... As a whole.

Edit 2: some numbers:
Zong: -85dB
Mobilink: -103dB

Zong 4G in Faisalabad on Main Jaranwala Road Fareed Town. I always get 40 to 60 Mbps speed in my room on Zong 4G. The reason behind this much constant speed might be that Faisalabad is the only region in Punjab where Zong contracted Ericsson for Network Swap.

And This is Telenor 4G Madina town Faisalabad. I get maximum 25 mbps on Telenor in Faisalabad.

While Mobilink 3G coverage is worst in Faisalabad. There is a Mobilibk tower in just a half KM distance from my home and i merely get 2 signals with 2G speed on 3G in my room.

Are you using prepaid? What's your location?

Mobilink: interference can occur. It even happens on 4G. Try going to a more open space (and not your room with concrete and steel structures) and try again. Radio waves are sometimes reflected off concrete walls, so performance will (hopefully) be much better in an open space.

Zong: I was trying to check online whether they contracted Ericsson or not for ANY region in the country... what I do know is that for North and Central/South, they have two different vendors (I forgot the name - I'll have to dig up my past posts for this info, but I was told by their helpline/engineers that they have two different vendors). That said, O2 uses Ericsson in the UK, and their speeds and coverage? 3G was slower than Ufone's (speed-test), whilst 4G was relatively better (but not on the superfast speeds you get here).

My point is - it doesn't matter anymore which vendor you procure - if Huawei and ZTE can get contracts from first world countries, that means they are giving a better value proposition to the bigger carriers! Stop using Ericsson as an excuse. The real reason is how well a network manages their resources!

Also, Telenor uses ZTE. Look at their 4G speeds right now. Sure, they don't have customers, but you can't use ZTE as an excuse for pathetic services (because that way, their 4G speeds would be just as "super duper tez tareen" as their 3G service.

Mobilink uses Huawei, and if I'm not wrong, they use another vendor as well... or maybe they solely use Huawei now... I can't recall.

I said this might be just one of the reasons. Zong is managing its resources very well and they used top quality 4G and 3G equipments in Pakistam.
This is current speed of Zong 4G MiFi in my room

And my room has a door and window in my lawn where i get maximum 3 signals. Even on my terrace i didnt get full signals. Mobilink is too slow in expanding 3G coverage in Faisalabad as still most of areas has no or weak coverage in main city. Even Warid 4G has better coverage in Mobilink 3G.

i checked on pc last night n now as well, its showing in lhr but not in fsd

Well there is some thing surely wrong in coverage map. Not only Faisalabad in this picture, Chiniot, Nankana Sahib and Jaranwala also shows no 4G coverage. And 4G is live in all areas

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.
