MALEFICENT (2014)
"Whaat? Its Funny".
I don’t particularly like to be Balls Deep in Fantasy world, especially not the in fairy tales'. But Disney movies are like Chocolate for me, sometimes. I can't have too much of them, but i still crave for them. So i don't '
over-think' it, since we are talking about movies. And
Maleficent was such a fantastic experience. In many ways it reminds me of “
Frozen (2013)” animated movie. Maleficent is both Villain & A Hero at once, and viewers are most of the time doubtful whether to love her all the way, or hate her all the way. There is an ‘
act of true love’ … and that’s a ‘
kiss’. Oh no, thats not from the 'typical kind' because just like
Frozen, it
redefines '
True love’s kiss'.
The prince, princess, and King are meant to be important but in reality, they are meaningless. Its all
Maleficent baby. Hail the magnificent performance of
Angelina Jolie, who even in 'bone dry' face, managed to look stunning. The unforgettable moments where "
curse is being set" in King's palace.
"
I hate you, Beasty". Her time spent with the “Beasty” Aurora, and 16 Aurora, were the most beautiful, powerful and lovely moments. I would be a liar if it didn’t tingle with my emotions, heck almost made me cry. (don’t look at me like that ~ love for children comes with the age :mushy
. Just look at that kid coming to her, asking to pick her Up ... and then grabs her Horns. Kids ... i tell ya. There is also a slight touch of humor. Just look at Maleficent and her 'Crow' have an argument about "how could you do this to me" lol.
90 Minutes time frame was a good thing. No time was '
Wasted' on puny details, but were not left out either. For example, the 'Cane' of Maleficent, Why 'it all' started etc etc. But thats also a downside because many things feel left-out. Like
Aurora who is supposed to be the 2nd most important character, was either running errands, or making happy, cute and innocent faces. But no complaints. And The King. I am not even gonna go in details about how
Sharlto Copley needs to
go 'bad-ass' or go home. Also,
I was expecting “The King” to meet a “live happily ever after” end, or “all debts forgotten” thingy. Didn’t happen. Killing him in that falling down accident wasn't really necessary, IMO. Since Disney is contend on "Redefining" the usual we have been seeing, i'll let it slide
CGI is absolutely top notch. On top of that, environments look ravishing. Whether its Maleficent casting spells/curses or turning other creatures into … well, any other creature
The best part.
There is a Dragon. Can't be that bad, right?
So yeah ... its highly entertaining. Looks freaking gorgeous. And Jolie ... because, Jolie. I think i'll give it a
7/10.
P.S. That "true love" Prince was f*cking Stupid. Hated him.
