The problem with time travel movies is that they always end up creating situations that'd most likely create a paradox in time or just plain don't make any sense. No exceptions to the rule.
Looper like any other time travel movie comes with its very own set of undefined time travel rules to suit the film's plot. If you're willing to accept it as a plot device put in place for dramatic effect, there's really not much else wrong about the movie. But if you're one of those anal-retentive types that over analyzes everything to death, you'll find plenty of things to complain about. I'd like to think I'm somewhere in between i.e I freakin' loved it!
Not an entirely original concept, the terminator movies come to mind if plot comparisons were to be made. Personally I was getting a "12 monkeys" vibe. Even though both movies have absolutely nothing in common (except Bruce Willis
) but the general tone of the film, the general feel of it, it was very similar to that of 12 monkeys.
Apart from the obligatory stellar JGL perfermonce, Emily Blunt was a real standout delivering an exceptionally moving performance.
I'm not a fan of assigning ratings to movies but here's one that I would NOT give Looper (for reference sake)
7.25/10
