THE EVIL WITHIN 2 (2017)
"
Just like before 'eh."
What a Great intro. Fortunately, The
Evil Within 2 retains the best parts about the
original game.
+ THE BEST PARTS +
PLOT & CHARACTERS:
*
Residual memories and
Projector Slides, a great way to explain the background story and events around a scenario. Intel and Documents laying around aren't 'optional'. They are
must, if you need to uncover the full mystery. And you
need to.
*Mobius isn't a mystery anymore, thankfully. Them, out in the open like that, made the plot more interesting.
*Constant reminder of past events at
Beacon Mental Hospital, retains connection to the first game. That's fine attention to detail.
*
Esmeralda Torres, badassss.
It's revealed that She is the operative who got Lilly and burned Sebastian's house down.
*
Kidman, "
There's a third choice, and that's F*** YOU" :spiteful: The sigh of relief to know more about her involvement.
*
Tatiana blowing party horn when 100% character upgrade is achieved, lol :soh: (Reading her bio on Wikia clears a lot of things up about her mysterious character). Let's not forget the
soothing violin music when around her. Pretty much
the Signature "The Evil Within" theme.
*
Stefano, the best psycho boss in the game. And what a wonderful WONDERFUL soundtrack.
"Stefano Valentini Music Theme (The Artist's Domain)"
*
Theodore is more involved in the plot, but as a boss, he's significantly less intimating.
Stefano was a lot more enjoyable, though, with his '
Art'-istic BS.
*
Final Chapters are
Extremely well done. Kidman going all out against common enemy, people helping Sebastian until their last breath (with Cliche'd deaths lol), Myra's connection to her family, all deep feelings and emotions mixed up in a great package. Absolutely Loved it.
GAMEPLAY:
*Amazing narrative, Jaw dropping atmosphere, Extremely suspenseful
*Scary AF creatures. Deadful
Obscura with her Chainsaw, totally had me with her in-your-face out of nowhere entry. And that
Ghost Lady wins the golden prize for the scaring the living shizzness out of you. Every time you'd hear her humming, singing and giggling ... a cold chill would shiver down your spine, making you clench your butt crack. I am not even joking.
*Seamless chapter shifts, with likable intros.
*Use of Save terminals via docking your communicator.
*"
Oh no, that thing again."
*Jaw dropping visuals. Check the visuals of
Myra Boss Fight. Stunning.
*Satisfying weapon choices. Crossbow with Explosive Darts, my favorite once again.
*Sneak killing enemies has been great fun. But really adds to the difficulty with tougher enemies.
- WHAT COULD'VE BEEN BETTER:
*Cheap thrills and jump scares, at times.
*Feels significantly less horrifying as compared to first game (but still immensely scary).
*No flashlight revealing signs, instead we have Mobius security boxes now. (Still good fun.)
*Burns through chapters faster than i had hoped. Or maybe it's just me.
*
Cover System needs improvements. Not so seamless moving from cover to cover.
*
The Executioner or '
That thing' weren't the scariest pieces of sh*t in the game. (Award goes to
Ghost Lady.)
*What happened to Ruvik or Leslie, is still a mystery. I sincerely hope the post-ending scene brings a 3rd and final game.
Three years have passed, and i still remember how great the
first game was. It was a
memory stuck in my head, so i had to purchase the full version.
And I DID. I will most certainly purchase this one too, until all the DLCs (if any) for this game are released.
8/10. And yes, i am eager to see what will happen in next game, and hope they do release one.
