You won't gain anything upgrading a S3 to a S4
As for the op's original question, it all depends on what you want ? Why do you want to shift ? What are you looking for in the I5 or even the S4 ?!

It is, doesn't mean the S3 is automatically better cause it is a quad core. The performance differences on both platforms depend on the OS optimization, not the processors
