PC Star Wars the Old Republic - Free to Play up to Level 50

The only reason I'm still using pc for gaming is this game ! I wanted to know any other fans, and will I be able to play as an RPG or not ???

SW: kotor 1 and 2 were the best, pity bioware/lucasart are not interested in koTOr 3... the force unleashed was pitiful as compared to these series !

dude my theory for playing a game relies on following priority

Story > Gameplay > Graphics . . . .

I was looking forward to this and had been following its progress with interest. BUT it seems to be slowly turning into a steaming pile of doo doo.

Single, isolated questing experience, horrible gfx, unusual class balance, unknown dps or healing mechanics... confusing.

For all those asking, SW:TOR is an MMO, and as such is unavailable offline. You will, however, have hundreds of other people around to play with. Hard to gauge how successful it will be since it will be competing with Guild Wars2, T.E.R.A. and that new WoW epansion. Of course, Star Wars fans will probably be getting this one. It should probably be noted that all previous Star Wars mmo's were not very successful, but this one is being developed by a completely different company and should not be associated with the previous ones. I am talking about the MMO's here, not the RPG's.

Thanksgiving beta event

There is an upcoming weekend beta event for TOR starting Nov 25. Many gaming sites are giving away beta keys for the event and if had registered with the SWTOR site before Nov 11 then you are already in. Anyone with a decent connection should try it for himself. The download file size is somewhere around 18 GB so better get started early on that

It is most definitely an MMO (there will be no offline mode). You can play alone at your own pace but you will need an online connection to play still. The digital edition of game is available on Origin but it is not played on Origin nor do you need an account with Origin to play this game. You may get it from some other vendor or get some friend in States or EU to buy it and send you the key to redeem online (which is what I did).

From what i hear so far, the game is a LOT like WoW (World of Warcraft) in mechanics with more developed quest system and a good story to back it up. Fans of KOTOR games are very likely to love this game, as well as other Star Wars fans. WoW veterans who still like WoW are still going to keep liking WoW after playing this game. People who burned out on WoW and are looking for something new are not going to find anything radically different or new in this game either. Rest assured the game seems plenty of fun if you love Star Wars or like to play an MMO.

I'll get back with a more informed opinion after my beta testing over this weekend.

I have heard that preorders are being tighly controlled because they dont want to overload the servers the first day, maybe it is possible when full game is released that we may buy it though origin, otherwise it will be pretty anoyying not everyone can have somone buy the game for them, for example i can have somone buy me the US version but i want the EU version since pings are at least 100 ms less on EU

Yea i was super excited when i got the email. Then super disappointed when i saw this region junk.
