Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?


What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

Also, Sony may still be loosing on the disc-less version a lot @400$. A 4k bluray drive is around 20$ at max! *Says Digital Foundry* !

Selling the standard PS5 at $450 is really the best idea but I don't know if it is possible for Sony considering the rumours about the high production costs. I think it's worth it even if they have to sell the console at a loss for now. Console multiplatform market could make it up for them.

ps5 wont undercut xbox prices by any means. they have the exclusives they don't need too i have said it before

xbox on the other hand its S model could sell really good if someone wants the console experience and for multiplats like fifa madden cod market.

the playstations digital edition i dont see it selling much good tbh. i want freedom and a digital only edition wont cut it.

XBSX only for those die hard MS and xbox fans and who want the native 4k and previous xbox one games to run enhanced

The XBS is not a 4K console! That alone will turn people off! I think the XSX will be their main seller.

PS5 both versions are similar specs-wise. So, it will be interesting which version sells most there.

Yup. Xbox doesn't have exclusives, since they're all on PC. And while Sony put Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC and might bring a couple more to the platform, the big franchises will remain exclusive to Playstation hardware. Sony also has a partnership in place with Activision for the biggest annual multiplatform franchise i.e. Call of Duty. Despite the One X being more powerful than the PS4 Pro, MW performs better on the latter.

He could be trolling but there might be a new God of War teaser there somewhere.

I'm really looking forward to Resident Evil 8 Village. They were supposed to show something on Sony's event in August but plans changed for Sony. It's at TGS as well but I'd be very happy to see it tonight as well.

    Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
