Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

Check your emails if you receive Sony marketing emails, Sony are sending out registration emails for PS5 pre orders. The pre orders will be in limited quantities apparently.

So I just saw an email in my inbox that's asking me to register for an opportunity to preorder a PS5. Wat.

SIE aims to achieve robust revenue growth by accelerating the virtuous cycle that has been established for the PlayStation Platform. This entails increasing active users and play time, enhancing network services and reinforcing content IP so that consumers select PlayStation as their platform of choice.

Targeted outcomes include growth in active users, stronger retention and a shorter cash conversion cycle, from which expanded cash flow can be expected.

We will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability
@GoldenHawk something something enticing people to buy PS5 :ROFLMAO:

TLoU 2 PC port in 2025 confirmed :p
I don't see them putting any ND games on PC. They're probably going to drip feed stuff like Dreams, Bloodborne, and maybe Killzone Shadowfall and Until Dawn.

Also, worth noting that this statement was made before Horizon's PC release, so that may end up being the extent of their exploration :ROFLMAO:

A vast majority of SIE's revenue comes from selling games on the PS Store, from PS+ subscribers, and from hardware sales. They're well aware of this fact.

Well, atleast you finally put hardware where it belongs i.e. at the end of the list. :ROFLMAO:
The other means of income that I mentioned are also a possibility due to their own hardware.

Hence, this comment:
The new statement doesn't go against what they said earlier. They're promoting growth in profitability by putting Horizon on PC to entice PC games to get a PS5, as they have previously stated. They're exploring whether this move actually makes a difference. Maybe R&C PS4 is next. That would surely confirm their intention.

PS5 won’t be backward-compatible with PS3, PS2, or PS1, Ubisoft says

Check your hype for five generations of gaming on PS5

Sony’s next-gen PlayStation will feature some level of backward compatibility with PlayStation 4 games, but PlayStation 5 owners may not get the full 25 years of backward compatibility they may be dreaming of. According to a support FAQ on Ubisoft’s website, the PS5 will not be backward-compatible with original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, or PlayStation 3 games.

Sony had never promised backward compatibility for PlayStation, PS2, and PS3 games on PS5. But reports from July speculated about the possibility of wide-ranging backward compatibility on PS5, playable from a cloud-based game library. Those reports were based on patent filings in Japan, not something that Sony announced.

PlayStation 5 will support “the overwhelming majority” of the more than 4,000 PS4 titles released to date, Sony senior VP of platform planning and management Hideaki Nishino said in March, amid confusion about Sony’s plans. Several game developers have already pledged to support PS4 versions of their games on PS5, including CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 and Treyarch/Raven Software’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

We’ve reached out to Sony for clarification on the extent of PlayStation 5’s backward compatibility support and will update when the company responds. It’s worth noting that the support FAQ entry on Ubisoft’s website is different depending on which region you’re viewing. The Australian version of the support page notes that “Backwards compatibility will be available for supported PlayStation 4 titles, but will not be possible for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, or PlayStation games,” while the U.S. equivalent does not mention those platforms at all.

oooof, looks like ubi has a beef with sony this gen. they are clearly siding with XBSX this gen and it shows plus XBSX is going to have all the BC they need from xbox to xbsx so they might just win BC at least this time again. sony still didn't learn from this gen that BC is quite important to players as well

Hot damn , R&C transition between worlds are much smoother and seamless now than they were in the first reveal where there was an obvious judder portal-ing between dimensions.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
