Sims 2 installation problem

Salam guys. I downloaded the sims 2: university expansion pack today. The installation went fine upto 100% and then came a notification that said 'the product will now ensure that your existing installation is up to date' after that a box came saying please wait. After that.......nothing. It got stuck for half an hour. I cant find anything related to this matter online.

Its not my pc causing the problem,i've installed the nightlife expansion pack and the seasons expansion pack and both worked fine. Also, the open for business expansion pack was causing the same problem.

Is there anyway i can edit the installer so it skips this part or something? Any help would be appreciated.

P.S I have vista

it was a torrent,a 2 cd version,and before you say it was the torrent,it isnt, because i have 3 different copies of open for business (on cd) and they all do the same thing, i think it has something to do with vista............

    170 + countries where Steam sells but PSN doesn't will lose access unless they use VPN

    You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
