Cats have an amazing ability to survive falls. I used to live on the 3rd floor in an apartment building, where there were open spaces next to every apartment door, for hanging clothes. Young kittens fell through those all the time, and I have personally cared for several kittens who fell through multiple times from the 3rd floor and still survived.
They get hurt. Bleeding noses and fractured limbs are common effects of a fall from 1st-3rd floor. But in my experience, they survive more often than not. So if any of you, ever find a cat whose fallen from a height, do not give up on its chances of surviving and call rescue services.
