i am getting intel DP45SG. it supports overclocking i guess.
The intel boards which support overclocking don't support it to max. So don't get it. Post ur budget so that members can suggest u better option. And also post ur remaining system specs

get an asus mobo not DP45Sg becuase it has many problems such as support and latest drivers.

Get Asus u will also get Asus exclusive features

@ baber Kamal

Duos are better when you just want to play games but remember that you can also overlclock a quad to 3.5 so it will be faster. And new DX11 titles will be coming out. Who knows if they use three cores liek GTA IV, then Duos will become useless.

Also Quads are not just for gaming, they are for multi-taksing. unles franky is buying a PC just to play games it is better to get Quad for more power when multi tasking.

Also check this: Tom's How many cores do you need Part2 ( general usage)

Don't go for Seagate HDD coz it's failure rate is too much get WD 640GB green/Blue.
Processor is fine. And get any Asus P45 or MSI P45 mobo which ever is in ur budget. Rest of the configuration is fine.
Between u didn't mention which LCD u getting?

@Syavash: Bro as we all know that quad cores hav upper hand in video encoding so i got a quad core once and did some video encoding and believe me there wasn't much difference between that and my current E5200 @3.7GHz.
Yup u r right that quads can also be overclocked but man do consider how much heat they produce, how much energy they consume and it's a head ach to keep them working well at overclocked settings. (Har waqt inhi cheezon mein phansay raho gey k how to keep ur system cool ). And u'll also need a very very good cooler to keep a quad cool

A dual core at around 4Ghz is much better than a quad core at 3.5Ghz.

@Franky dont waste E8400 on an Intel Board
this processor iz known to hit 4.7GHz and u can run it 24/7 on 4Ghz easily

ASUS P5Q-E Motherboard iz excellent
if u cant find it then go with MSI as baber suggested

Depends on which quad core u get.

and quads do produce much heat but then so does the i7, BUT that doesnt stop people from overclocking it.

And a quad will be better if u multi-task, and basically my point is

get a quad core because it will really shine when games with quad core support come out

^ Quad Cores will but tht doesnt justify buying Core2Quads for 20k since Corei5 releases next month and iz faster than current core2quad processors and will utilize DDR3 effectively bcoz of integrated Memory Controller

and can u give us the tentative date when more then 70% of games will come out quad cores optimized??? bro q6600 was released about 2 years ago or more, and still the develepors don't want to take advantage of quads :p

there is nothing as future as far as pc industry is concerned, what you have now is the future coz every other product gets obsolete within 6-8 months time period due to rapid growth in technology race.....

and Q9550 costs 20k

i wasnt talking about u either man i was talking in general
rite now 20k for Q9550 iz not a good option and Q8200/8400 r too slow compared to similarly priced E8400

yep but that is not the case, similar clocked or almost similar quads and duos have significant difference in price....100-200 mhz ka differenct to chalta hai if you are getting them for same money....

hello.im new to this site.im planning to build a gud gaming pc dat wud run all latest games at maximum detail with gud frames .
i've already got these things:

c2d e7400 2.8 ----------------------------------- 9800rs
asus p5kpl-cm ------------------------------------- 4000rs
2gb ddr2 ram kingston 800 ----------------------- 1900rs
bluetooth wirless keyboard nd mouse -------------1800rs
320gb hard disk seagate ----------------------------4000rs

samsung 37 inch lcd has a 1366 x 768 max resolution

i need advice about buying

a gud casing =====>> in 2000rs range
a gud power supply----->> in 2000 rs range

a graphics card dat is the best value for money---------->> cant decide wat to buy? im thinking about getting 1 of these:
-xfx nvidia 9600gt ----- 7200rs
-xfx nvidia 9800gtx----- 10000rs
-xfx nvidia 250 gts------ 11400rs

also i've read that 9800 gtx is the same as 250gts.and its not worth wasting ny extra money on 250 gts.

Change C2D E7400 with E6300 2.8Ghz
only difference between them iz 3MB Cache for E7400 vs 2MB Cache for E6300
also E6300 has newer Stepping and Supports Virtualization Technology

E6300 costs 7200 Rs and has the same performance as E7400

a gud casing =====>> in 2000rs range
a gud power supply----->> in 2000 rs range
just buy any Generic Casing
and a good 400W PSU
try to find a CM 400W

a graphics card dat is the best value for money---------->> cant decide wat to buy? im thinking about getting 1 of these:
-xfx nvidia 9600gt ----- 7200rs
-xfx nvidia 9800gtx----- 10000rs
-xfx nvidia 250 gts------ 11400rs
XFX GTS250 out of these iz the best option

9800GTX and GTS250 have the same performance BUT GTS250 iz less power hungry and generates a lot less heat than 9800GTX and iz worth the extra cash
