Could someone please explain to me how custom duty works in Pakistan? I have a friend who will send me a couple books but I'm not quite sure how does this work. First of all, do I have to pay anything when I receive the items (Not just books, let's suppose phones, tablets, etc)? Second, how many days would it take? Third, will they deliver it to my doorsteps once it's in Pakistan?

I have never had anyone send me anything from foreign before so I have no idea how does this work.

Thanks! Are there any package size or weight restrictions? How does the rules work if I'm ordering a cellphone? Is there any website where I can check all this information?

Well the prices comes under experience, as i am almost dealing with such instances. So know the rates of the descriptions. Importing cell phone under gift or give away ( no longer used by anyone ) can be accepted under 348 rupees legal tax ( custom ) at or upto 15,000 Rps Declared value via any courier or shipment mode.

Beyond 15,000 Rps - 35,000 custom falls luxury item @ 17.24 percent on the declared value.

Well, this all seems very complicated. If you have experience, just tell me about the books. I don't think I will ever order cellphones or something. There might be 10+ books, so I don't know how big the package will be and it will come through Pakistan post, so still the same price rules, right?

Now the quantity changes here. I was roughly giving u an idea of 2 - 3 books. Weight is an important role here, dimensions is not a must.
If you bring it in with USPS priority mail , then i am guessing your custom to come to around 1000 in total. Else, your local postmaster does not like your books :)
Secondly, order the stuff from abroad, the irony of this nation is a very crusty feeling they have. They feel scared, how will u enter the battle ground if you do not take on one chance :)
