Hey guys,

So my nexus 5 fell down and since then no network signals, nothing! nada! Mobile sims are getting detected and the sim card menus as well so its not the sim card jacket.

Everything else is working like it should as well i.e. WiFi/BT/NFC/Sensors etc

So... I am out of ideas as to what might be the problem here... -_-

Phone is bone stock running vanilla 6.0.1 with latest april security patch.

Imgur doesn't load on Tapatalk.

First off, in settings, can you search for networks manually?

Second, try a different SIM in the phone. See if that works and connects. Also, try your SIM in another phone.

Third, does your IMEI and baseband/radio show in settings?

And last, it is possible that you dislodged the RF antenna inside the phone. So SIMs will be detected but they won't connect to a network.

Can search but no networks show up after the search.

Tried, same with other sims as well.

Third, does your IMEI and baseband/radio show in settings?
Yes, IMEI and baseband both show.

And last, it is possible that you dislodged the RF antenna inside the phone. So SIMs will be detected but they won't connect to a network.
Both the antenna cables are properly connected

so yeah ._.

Considering you've opened the phone to check, the last idea I have is doing a factory reset, unlocking the bootloader and flashing the entire factory image again.

This type of situation has only happened once with me in the past and that is because I bought a used phone, the IMEI was marked as stolen and was blacklisted. So I couldn't connect to any networks.

I am considering that but this phone was bought new some years back, has the same IMEI so it can't get blacklisted...

Have already factory reset it, might try reflashing.

I don't really trust mobile repair shops since most of the times I repair the mobile myself (except soldering bits) cause they don't have a clue .... BUT in this case I might give one a try if there's a good repair shop.

There are actually no 'Good' repair shops. I hear things about which repair shop has 'Jawad bhai' or 'Kashif bhai' but in the end I go there and ask for that person and it turns out that person quit repairing phones and one of the little kids in the shop who used to watch him repair has now taken over his business and god forbid you make the grand mistake of handing your phone to him, it'll come back a huge mess with half the things not working and then he'll start making excuses about how the phone was already like that when you gave it to him.

Also, Nexus phones to a repair shop. Big no. If it's one thing I've learned it's that repair shops only know how to repair Samsung or iPhones.

Handing them something like an Xperia, a Nexus device or an HTC is a challenge for them because they have no idea what they're doing.

Try re-flashing and tell me how it goes, make sure to flash radio.img

Update:

Flashed Kitkat's radio, still same thing. Nexus 5 uses Qualcomm WTR1605L LTE/HSPA+/CDMA2K/TDSCDMA/EDGE/GPS transceiver, my GPS is locking on without WiFi connected. *scratches head*

Why KK radio? It may be compatible, but it's ancient.
Flash the entire MOB30D build including the radio and do a full wipe.

Alright, KK radio because supposedly that radio had the best reception :p
Yes there's a similar thing with the Nexus 6. However, it may have the best reception for someone else.
For you, a different radio could have better reception. I personally like to stick with the latest.

Much like almost all new smartphones, the Nexus 5 has an antenna run down from the mother board to the daughter board along the right side I believe.

My very first test would be a continuity test between both ends of the cable. Do that. If there's no continuity, look for another cable. Shouldn't be a hard find.

But, if I were to pin point one thing, I'd blame the daughterboard/lower end of the antenna. Those PCBs are normally more susceptible to damage. It's not uncommon to have poor bars (or none at all) after damaging the lower end. I'll suggest looking into how much it costs. Everything for my phone costs pretty much under 10$, but then again, it's a OnePlus One so I just replace problem parts. If it's cheap, I'd put my money on it being the culprit.

*Note: I've never repaired a Nexus 5, I'm just speaking from experience on other devices.

2 in N5, I'll check the continuity, they're properly connected though.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
